Re: Starship Farragut's "The Price of Anything"

16th viewer on You-tube. I liked it. Certainly the best from Farragut, so far. As others have said, but it bears repeating. Don't want to get spoilery so I'll just say that I found the specialty of the Romulan character interesting. The title is, if no one has pointed it out from a Thoreau quote. Use Google for the rest.

I think that all fan series have to be judged on their own terms so I'll leave comparisons to others.

Also, I cast my vote for ripe Watermelon.

Kudos to the Farragut team. Solid story and acting, and great work on the cinematography and editing. I look forward to more.

Where's the downloadable version? Of this episodes and all the other ones?

Just wondering, as I hate watching things on youtube.

Re: Starship Farragut's "The Price of Anything"

I do feel this is Farragut's best one yet. It is VERY good. As with all fan films, there are some nagging issues. However, there are issues with ALL productions from professional to amateur. No one is safe. I do hate that this is John's last run as captain. He is steadily improving. He looks more relaxed as do each of Farragut's BIG THREE. The more they relax and find their way, the better their performances will be. Go back and watch Friends from the first year. It is terribly forced and overacted as compared to episodes a couple of seasons later. Good job guys.

Was the planet's surface Vasquez Rocks? Or just somewhere amazingly similar?

It wasn't Vasquez Rocks. At least, not all of it was.

Just saw it. Certainly a very decent episode. Solid script, acting was ok with a few exceptions, editing and pacing was good. I wasn´t convinced with the fx work, though. It was ok, but it screamed CG all the way through - at least for the "obvious" fx parts.

I'm way past the stage where I have much desire to say anything beyond whether I enjoyed something or not. Nothing's perfect, but as I said earlier, I enjoyed this quite a lot.

John has decided not to step down as Captain Carter. The experience making this film convinced him he should continue. I for one am very happy he is staying on in front of the camera as well as behind. I think his performance shows great strides forward.

Re: Starship Farragut's "The Price of Anything"

I generally don't comment on acting in fanfilms since most of the performers in them aren't trained actors. I will say that John Broughton is much improved in this segment and it's obvious he got some good notes from the director.

I will agree with Dennis that maybe a comparison to WEAT isn't quite apt, given how many pros worked on that. I think it's fair to use TTI as an example because even unfinished you can still judge the quality of the writing, acting, lighting, camera work, etc. (it also helps that I have seen the ending).

The location work helps a lot. It opens up the visual scope. There are a few shots there that are pretty damned good.

So, in general, for a fan film it's really good. That said, it's a fan film, and it's got its share of flaws.

So, critiques aside, kudos to the team for making one of the best Trek fanfilms yet. Well done.
