I've always heard Jackson Archer. There was a poster here with that name for awhile.

I think the change was rather quick once UK fans started pointing out the reference. Possibly it went very quickly to Jackson.

IMDB, of course, is a very poor source of information, but it does seem to confirm it...

The Guardian agrees.

I guess they thought "better safe than sorry". After all, not everyone has as little problems with an ill-chosen name as Johnny Depp (Depp is the German word for halfwit / idiot)

I actually liked "Jackson Archer" much better than Jonathan at first but as the first season of the show progressed I got used to the more white-bread first name for Scott's character.
