Re: New image released from Star Trek Into Darkness

Just for the hell of it I googled the name to see if anyone important ever had it. First result:

John Harrison (24 March 1693 – 24 March 1776) was a self-educated English carpenter and later a clockmaker. He invented the marine chronometer, a long-sought device in solving the problem of establishing the East-West position or longitude of a ship at sea, thus revolutionising and extending the possibility of safe long distance sea travel in the Age of Sail. The problem was considered so intractable that the British Parliament offered a prize of £20,000 (comparable to £2.87 million in modern currency) for the solution.[1][2]
Harrison came 39th in the BBC's 2002 public poll of the 100 Greatest Britons.[3]

Should have been George Harrison. "Star Trek: Beware of Darkness". Except J.J. doesn't like colons in titles.

Ooooh, he was in "Space Seed"?

"Harrison's name was mentioned in "Space Seed" and "The Naked Time". Harrison is one of only a few Starfleet personnel to wear the colors of all three TOS-era divisions (sciences blue, operations red and command gold) in his various onscreen appearances."

I figured it out. John Harrison was a clockmaker, also a navigator. This is a hidden reference to TAS "The Counter Clock Incident." Cumberbach is Robert April angry that a tween is commanding his vessel and back for vengeance. QED

Ok I have nothing to back this up, but most of the speculation doesn't, how about Flint?

LOL! The first thing I thought when I saw this probably fake name was its a Beatles joke.
Figures that someone called Don Draper would get a 1960s reference!

Re: New image released from Star Trek Into Darkness

Paramount made a typo on the press release. He's really playing John Harriman, taking over for Alan Ruck from Star Trek: Generations. I suppose in the alternate reality he was to become the Enterprise's captain, but since he did not attain that position, he rages.

See how much one image can spoil?

Maybe if Cumberbatch is Robert April reversed aged and enhanced, he takes revenge on Admiral Pike (who took over the Enterprise from him) killing him.

John Harrison? This has to be the most bizarre misspelling of "Khan" yet.
