Echoing the general sentiments, "World Enough and Time," but subsequent Phase 2's have been disappointing by comparison.

The reason why World Enough and Time will be the gold standard for some time, is what fan films always fail at 1) Story, 2) Acting.

WEaT has two strong actors in the two guest leads, obviously Takei brings huge cred. And then Zicree's story is what you expect from a professional screen writer.

The look of many fan films has been strong for years, look at Exeter's second effort. Even In Harm's Way looked good. I am sure the new Farragut effort will be outstanding due to Matt Bucey, who is awesome. Special effects have been democratized too. So having a good look is becoming standard. But story and acting are still the difference. And I have yet to see any fan film consistently knock it out of the park. It REALLY is difficult. Look at OGAM. Perfect example. Great actors, bad story and the final product doesn't hold to WEaT.

So that is my 2 credit. OK, that is my third and fourth credits!

Phase 2 has the most advanced effects out there, but Farragut has always been the one that felt the most "natural" to me (e.g., the chemistry between the lead actors).

Went to the premiere of Starship Farragut's "The Price Of Anything" last night and it's fantastic! It easily surpasses anything they've done in the past. It has better production values than most of the stuff produced on the Sci-Fy channel.

I think all right-thinking people would agree that Star Trek Phase II has the only productions that are worth watching, and that the quality of their productions is due largely to, well, the calibur of the Co-Executive Producers.

Yes. The joke you didn't catch was that my over-the-top comment was made completely tongue-in-cheek--being one of the Co-Executive producers of Phase II. I apologize if it wasn't funny and came across as ignorant and needlessly inflammatory; I didn't think anyone would actually take my over-the-top comment seriously.

i think the problem i have with phase 2 is the constant recasting of characters. i know its not the fault of anyone, just one of those things that happens with fan films, but it really distracts from the rest of the awesomeness.

Yes, even though people know recasting happens with fan films, people still have a problem with it. But not too many viewers are actually so bothered by the recasting that they will chip in a few hundred bucks to help ensure better reimbursement for our cast as an incentive to make them want to return to our production over and over again. Continuity of the cast has not been a driving factor in our volunteer financial contributions.

As I've said before, it's difficult to find actors (and behind-the-scenes folks, too, for that matter) who will volunteer their own time, travel expenses, and lodging for a couple of weeks, shoot after shoot, year after year.

Phase II, as prolific as we are, is probably more susceptible to this recasting problem than most fan productions. If we had only one or two episodes to our credit, there would be no real opportunity or need to recast roles. But having shot twelve full-length episodes and four short vignettes, we probably encounter the recasting problem more frequently than other productions.

Thanks to everyone for your continued enthusiasm; if we have indeed achieved any level of awesomeness, it hasn't come cheaply.
