I think it looks pretty cool. I like Tom Cruise and he usually seems to pick good sci-fi scripts.

Cool visuals, but how did the aliens bury skyscrapers in cliffs? And why?

I suspect this may be the kind of movie that never bothers to answer such questions. They're buried in cliffs because it looks cool in a poster/trailer/etc.

Also, April release date? Eh, it's gonna get lost, that's too soon for the summer action movie crowds to be playing attention.

Yeah I had the same thought, especially if the Big SecretTM turns out to be that there were no aliens and humans were responsible for the carnage/irradiation/skyscrapers in cliffs etc.

Maybe, but can't think of many other blockbusters I'll be seeing in 2013 (besides Into Darkness and Hobbit 2). This actually looks good enough to go on the maybe pile along with Elysium.
