No, in that case King George would kidnap Charming. Easier to manage and we would get to see Snow's search for him every week.
That would work too, but it's much more dramatic to see George lord over a sad Snow than twirl his mustache and monologue to a comatose Charming.

Re: Once Upon A Time - Season 2 Thread

Of course there are many reasons to see Gold as a sympathetic character on the path of redemption, but this week I was struck by how "non-sociopathic" he was. He was trying to talk David out of risking himself by taking the sleeping curse. If all Gold cared about was himself (and possibly Belle) then he should have been happy with David's venture.

I'm buying into Gold being Henry's grandfather, and Henry being the catalyst for both Gold and Regina's redemption.

And I continue to love this show more every week.

Re: Once Upon A Time - Season 2 Thread

Really enjoyed the episode.
I'm glad to see them already bringing Emma and Snow back to Storybrooke, I was afraid they were going to drag that out all season. I wonder if we'll continue to follow Mulan and Aurora on their search for Phillip's soul if this is the end of them.
It'll definitely be interesting to see what happens with Regina now that her mother is in Storybrooke. They seemed to be trying to hint in the trailer that she'll go bad again, but I'm wondering if there is more to it. So far she has seemed honest in her attempts to go good.

I agree... I really liked last night's ep. And I love Henry, not only turning Regina from her path, but going to her for a hug after David woke up.

I also liked Emma's doubts on her worth as a savior... and LOVED how Cora could NOT rip Emma's heart from her.

Hehe, I keep wondering when the FBI or someone is going to wonder what's with all the weird shit going on in Storybrooke.

^^ I wonder if coming through the barrier from the other side would have any effect.

This was another good episode. We got our explanation of how Hook was able to get Aurora's heart; it made sense and it was not what any of us predicted.

I liked Emma's showdown with Cora and her conversation with Rumpy-- she is apparently more special than anyone guessed.

It certainly took them long enough to figure out that the squid ink was on the parchment, though.

I gotta admit... ... I totally missed that obvious answer until Snow/MM brought it up.

I'm waiting for the moment when Snow turns to Emma, after she's pulled another rabbit out of her hat and says something like, "Momma knows best!"

Robert Carlyle is just so good! If Gold's gonna be redeemed, they're...I dunno...setting it up but being a bit...inconsistent? Maybe that's best, that he's taking two steps forward and one back all the time. But I love Carlyle! Loved him in SGU, too.

Seen that! Just great. Was he reading a prompter?

And I like the Mame Dennis (Auntie Mame) quote.

Not sure about the prompter, but even if he was, it was still impressive to do a 5 minute scene with no breaks like that.

Well, you have to realize that Rumpelstiltskin is cursed. He didn't come by his abilities completely willingly, he was tricked into it by the previous Dark One.

So chances are the "two steps forward" is the man inside trying to overcome that curse, while the "one step back" is the curse fighting back.

I loved Cora's line "You don't think I keep my heart in the same place as everybody else."

Poor Regina I can see how she'll continue to straddle the line between good and evil while Emma still gets all the good stuff with Henry.

I was very surprised that Snow managed to wake Prince Charming so easily, I really thought there would be a twist to that.

The ending was very ominous. I wonder if the Beanstalk is a permanent fixture? It could provide a way for the two worlds to cross.

I loved Emma's line to Regina: "Your mother . . . a real piece of work."

(Or words to that effect.)

Thank you, Emma, for keeping it real.
