Frankly, I find the shortcomings of the Snowmen to be part of their charm. C'mon, we're dealing with an alien flying around the cosmos in a police box that's bigger on the inside, and you're complaining about snowmen?! It's all part of the fun of Doctor Who.
Yes, yes I am.

It's Calvin's 'Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Snowgoons.'

The snowmen are crap.

Then again with most of nuwho overly using cgi for their monsters it's what I've come to expect. Or accept.

Snowmen looked fine to me.

Eh, the CGI looks about part for the course. Doctor Who has never wowed me with its cgi. In that video, it's so brief that it's hard to get a good look.

IMO I think we've come a long way from the CGI wolf and Krillitanes of season 2.

I noticed that too. The light is shining at an angle that brightens her face. The bright light diminishes all the detailing

Also noticed they didn't do makeup on her lower lip
Ah...yes, that's it, thanks. The lack of lip color, gives an optical illusion of her lower face looking kinda "sucked in", like she ate a lemon
Aye. I suppose we can just say she started to wear lipstick at some point. I imagine it is because she has a lot more to say this time around and constantly touching up her lips between nearly every take for a week or more of filming would have just been annoying. (I know, I've done it before)
Or perhaps Jenny prefers a smoother touch and Vastra obliged.

But yes, I noticed the difference right away. Also, the tint of green seems a little lighter, though perhaps that's the lighting in that particular shot.

I loved the bit where Matt says it's her first ep, she corrects him, she couldn't possibly be the same character... could she

Looks fun. And that's the man thing with any Doctor Who episode: That it's fun.

A long way from the Nucleus of the Swarm, too.

So the Doctor has 'retired'... because of Amy and Rory's departure?

Geez, did he go and read Twilight or something?
Not departure - DEATH. Complete with tombstone. This was exactly what the Doctor feared most about Amy/Rory, what he'd abandoned them on Earth twice to prevent. That they went on to live out a full and happy life in America doesn't even register with him. He'll never see them again now, in any form. And his only remaining link to either, Melody/River - well, her time with him is fast drawing to a close too. And, of course, he blames himself for all of it. Five never fully recovered from Adric's death - neither will Eleven here.

Not to mention what's still hanging over his head, something he fears even more than his 'death' last season - the fields of Trenzalore, the "Fall of the Eleventh," the Question that MUST (never) be answered. (And he never did find out who blew up the TARDIS, did he?) He was already in a bad mood going into the events in New York; now after all this, and with his erasure from the very memory of the universe, it makes sense that the 1,300+ year old (at least) Doctor would decide "I've had it. I'm getting too old for this ****."

Enter Clara...
