Grace Patricia Kelly (1929-1982) was born in Philadelphia. At a young age, she decided she wanted to become an actress, and studied acting (primarily theater) at New York City's American Academy of Dramatic Art and worked as a stage actress and model before moving to Hollywood. While in New York, Kelly promoted Old Gold cigarettes and appeared on the covers of magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Redbook.

Kelly made her film debut with a minor role in Fourteen Hours, but followed it up with High Noon. She then appeared in Mogambo, receiving both Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Her work in The Country Girl won her the Best Actress Oscar and Golden Globe awards.

In 1956, Kelly married Prince Rainier Grimaldi III of Monaco to become Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco. As a princess, she gave up her successful acting career which consisted of eleven films and numerous TV appearances. She had three children: Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stéphanie. Kelly died September 14, 1982, at the age of 52 after her car went off a road in the cliffs of Monaco.

OMG NOW WE ARE TALKING!!!

I remember I was about 14 when I saw a movie on our little black and white television (I am not that old, my mother was convinced colour televisions gave people cancer) and there was this .. goddess.. this impossibly beautifully radiant .. WOMAN.

I was utterly smitten.

I think it was Ingrid Bergman who had that effect on me for the first time. Grace Kelly though, a classic beauty from a classic era of beauty.

There are moments in Rear Window when she is on screen where i simply melt.

Specifically this scene where she is first introduced:
