Insignia Class Starship c. 2299

I'll give PB another shot- but in the mean time, a photo and upload to my WP took all of 5 seconds... It's a cheat, but it will do for now.



I'm not leaving that texture on the hull... It works on the smaller ships I make, but not so much here.

I'm really liking where this is going and pleased that I'm finally seeing my ship built up here.

Just wanted to see her whole... She's docked at a starbase (well, an 1/8 of a starbase this part is about 600m) I'm making based on another thread... I am really excited about this ship. It doesn't look like I've done much, but I'm presently scribing dozens of tedious grid lines. It's a pain, but it's coming along nicely. The windows are what I'm putting off... Stupid TNG and after with their ships of a million windows!

I was monkeying around with a similar idea a while back, towards incorporating the insignia into the design of a spacecraft. Here's what I did:




I think I'm leaning towards using shading to suggest a beveling, to complete the underside curve.

That's a nice design element to incorporate. And it seems to work nicely with ship in general.

That would be an interesting design exercise, as the insignia isn't symmetrical. I'm already picturing something. I'll be right back...

If I remain inspired, and put some work into it, I'll make it the focus of my own thread!

Mocking? Too harsh a word...worting as my Mom used to say.
As for the uppity XO, I did serve on ship that had two utility boats, a Captain's Gig... and an officer's launch! So go for it LOL!

Hmm- I hadn't really planned to put one on her, but you have now inspired me to do so... Hope you don't mind my using your idea. Though mine will be symetrical...
