Re: Who should be the Director for Star Wars Episode 7?
I'm more on the Vaughan, Verbinski, style director bandwagon, someone who's talented but doesn't have a "style" of movie, I'm looking for competence, ability to handle both popcorn adventure and mythic seriousness, and willingness to match the tone of the OT. |

Re: Who should be the Director for Star Wars Episode 7?
Haven't we had enough "over bloated, doesn't know when to say no and enough is enough filmmaking with a sense of "with CGI, we can do anything" without actually considering a story first" filmmaking with this franchise?

Re: Who should be the Director for Star Wars Episode 7?
I could get on the Brad Bird or Duncan Jones bandwagon. Though I think that the studio would balk at Duncan's relatively unproven track record in terms of box office returns. |

Re: Who should be the Director for Star Wars Episode 7?
Perhaps The Lone Ranger will see him being capable of making a tighter and more enjoyable movie or maybe the fault has been with the scripts he's been handed.

Re: Who should be the Director for Star Wars Episode 7?
Now, this may or may not be entirely irrelevant but it looks like Paramount are chasing Chris McQuarrie, not Brad Bird, to helm the 5th Mission: Impossible movie. This may well be due to McQuarrie directing Cruise in the forthcoming Jack Reacher movie (and he and Cruise have already worked together in Valkyrie). But might Bird's absence just be down to a SW commitment? Or does it at least make him more likely to be involved?
