I'm beginning to think that everything before the movie will just refer to Cumberbatch's character by the name Benedict Cumberbatch. The action figure will have Benedict Cumberbatch labeled on the packaging, the Countdown to Darkness comic book will refer to the character as Benedict Cumberbatch. It's going to get to the point where in the actual movie he's going to refer to himself as Khan or Gary Mitchell or Flint or the Prosecutor and everyone is going to be like "I thought his name was Benedict Cumberbatch. That's what everyone's been saying." Then everyone walks out of the theatre and the film tanks at the box office.

Sometime in the not too distant future, he's thrown forward in time. He's so pissed off he starts tear assing around the quadrant and the Enterprise has to stop him.

But as a hater, that doesn't fit with my world view. Trek XII will bomb, forcing the next Trek movie back to the Pure Prime Timeline. Also Rick Berman will be called back. And Brannon Braga.

I think it's nice that some fans/contest winners get to be in the movie. It sounds like maybe there's some work adding them in, but it's nice to do as a one-time thing, as JJ mentioned.
