Re: Star Trek: Phase II releases a trailer for "Origins:The Protracted

Looks exciting.

Who is it playing that one senior officer? I swear I've seen him somewhere else before.
Colin Cunningham. He played a minor recurring character on Stargate SG-1.
And he currently has a prominent role on Falling Skies.

I like the new style and tone of the previews, but I still can't get my head around this new Kirk. He just doesn't have the right screen presence.
James Cawley continues as Captain Kirk in our yet-to-be finished episodes "Kitumba," and "Origins: The Protracted Man." He might also be in "Mind-Sifter." So much (but not all) of the Kirk scenes remain unshot. We might continue with James for "Mind-Sifter;" but maybe we'll get Brian Gross to play Kirk for that episode. In the meantime, Brian Gross plays Kirk in the unfinished "Bread and Savagery" and in the vignette "Going Boldly."

Note: Matthew Ewald plays the young Cadet James T. Kirk in the flashback scenes in "Origins: The Protracted Man." (Well, actually most of that episode is a flashback.)

Origins should be another step forward for Phase II. Great cast, good story, and Matthew (young Kirk) and Colin Cunningham (Pike) are both professional actors who do great work.

So realistically, how much longer for this and Kitumba?

Realistically, I think the comment at the end of this trailer that reads "Coming 2013" will be right on the money. I'd be really surprised if it took longer than that. So a year and two months at the outside.

Re: Star Trek: Phase II releases a trailer for "Origins:The Protracted

Thanks everyone! If you click around that YouTube channel you will also find a lot of exclusive previews and pieces of all three upcoming episodes. Some pretty amazing VF work by Pony Horton and Tobias Richter. They are just surrounded by our discussion of the Indiegogo campaign so I can't post the links here as it is technically "fundraising". (though the campaign is long over.)

And, well, there's some very short amusing pieces from Brandon Stacy "Spock" and Charles Root "Scotty".

These were quick trailers put together to thank people for donating money....so sound, lighting, color correction....none of it's finished, it's just a sneak peak.
