I'm sure it'll be fine guys.
It's still going to look a hell of a lot better than the DVD's.

New S2 screencap (looks like crap):
Looks like the compositor accidentally applied the same blur setting to the deflector light element as they were using for the nacelle lights and neither Curry nor the Okudas caught it in time. Oh, well... hopefully this is an isolated case and not a specific aesthetic choice by a particular compositor at HTV Illuminate.

The planet is somewhat sub-par as well, but no worse than some planets in TOS Remastered.

Re: Season TWO OFFICIAL TNG Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

The press release is finally out.

The new features that we didn't already know about are:
1988 On-Air Season Two Promo
Energized! Season Two Tech Update
1988 Reading Rainbow segment with LeVar Burton
2012 Reading Rainbow iTunes Promo
Gag reel, newly recovered from 35mm in the archives

So the 'Q Who' commentary seems to not have made it through. Nice to have another featurette on the restoration process. Hopefully they are anticipating concerns about the different results generated by a new company and from Dan Curry's involvement and will be tackling them head on.

Otherwise, it's as expected. Great to see the Reading Rainbow segment made it. The Webster sequences would have been nice, but if they turned out to be utterly painful we may have regretted ever seeing them...

And who knows what surprises will be in the two-part documentary. Although I'm not complaining at all about this generous array of extras, given the absence of that commentary, I'd be curious to learn from FrontierTrek if this list matches what was expected.

The gag reel is nice. But given how this last 'secret' feature was hyped I'm somewhat underwhelmed. Seems stupid now that they tried to make it out as some game changing addition to the season 2 set. Also I'm sorry for everyone who was hoping for the commentary. It's not a feature I would have utilised but I know many people were very keen to have it.

However, I don't want to complain. With the extended version of Measure of a Man season two has the best bonus feature ever put on a Star Trek home video release.

Ah fear not, the Q Who commentary will be included! CBS missed it off the press release for some reason.

Here's the release again with commentary and an interesting addendum!

Oh, fantastic! There's obviously some treasures in those boxes of film. It's exciting to consider what may be discovered for future seasons. I'm trying to think of any famously missing material that may turn up...

Wow, that's quite a collection of extras!

Although I do kinda wish they would group the bonus features together on these things. I always find it annoying having to pop in different discs to see everything. But oh well.

I could not agree more! This must be the most annoying thing since they started releasing blu rays with TOS. I really miss the nice orderly index you got on the TNG DVDs with all the extras on 1 disc.

I'm glad they included the updated interview with Diana Muldaur in there. Also excited about the deleted scenes even though I have this feeling those scenes won't be that big of a deal.

Here's a collection of known deleted scenes:

http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Dele...ext_Generation

Note that not all of them were filmed.

It's interesting that neither "The Icarus Factor" nor "Up the Long Ladder" are on that list though.

If you look at the teleplay of "The Icarus Factor" you'll see that scene A21 was cut from broadcast (in addition, scene 24 has some additional dialogue):

Code:
INT. CORRIDOR - DATA AND GEORDI

are approaching the doors to Ten-Forward.

                    GEORDI
You think Worf is going to
            appreciate being observed like
            some laboratory specimen?

                    DATA
You are correct. He is not
            insensitive... particularly at
            this stage of his development.

                    GEORDI
            Just remember, this is Wesley's
            operation, okay?

                    DATA
            Wesley is quite competent.

Just as they approach Ten-Forward, Wesley steps up,
    agitated.

                    WESLEY
You guys aren't going to believe
            this...

                    GEORDI
            Believe what?

                    WESLEY
            Commander Riker just caught me
            coming out of the turbolift.

                    GEORDI
So? This area isn't off limits
            to you.

                    WESLEY
I know, but I've been working on
            Paracelsian computations as part
of my studies and he wants them
            right away.

                    GEORDI
            What about Worf?

                    WESLEY
            When Commander Riker says right
            away he means right away.

                    DATA
            Indeed.

                    WESLEY
                (re Ten-Forward)
You guys can cover for me, can't
            you?

                    GEORDI
            Wait a minute. This whole
            thing --

                    WESLEY
I've got to get my computations
            done.

                    GEORDI
You don't expect us to --

                    WESLEY
Oh, come on. What are friends
            for?
                (to Data)
            Right?

Data reacts, very much put on the spot; then:

                    DATA
Go ahead. Finish your work and
            We shall study Worf.

                    WESLEY
I knew I could count on you guys!

With that, Wesley heads off down the corridor, leaving
Data to face Geordi, as we:

                                    GO TO:
"Up the Long Ladder" (AKA "Send in the Clones") has a lot more changes spread throughout (dialogue mostly). Scene 24 in particular was never aired:

Code:
    INT. SICKBAY

Pulaski is treating an ancient Bringloidi. Riker and
Brenna ENTER. Pulaski runs a device over the OLD
MAN'S arm, and cures his crippling rheumatoid
arthritis. His claw-like hand relaxes and he
experimentally wiggles the fingers. Brenna is amazed.
This is magic. The old man is so pleased with this
new mobility that as Pulaski turns away to replace the
device he leans off the biobed, and pinches her on
the ass. Pulaski calmly swats his hand.

                    PULASKI
            Behave yourself.

                    OLD MAN
            You're a fine woman, and you've
made a young man of me.

                    PULASKI
            No, I've cured your arthritis,
and if you try anything more
            energetic you'll probably drop
            dead.

                    OLD MAN
                (with a leer)
            I'd die happy.

                    PULASKI
            Out.

He hobbles past Brenna and Riker with a wink and
another leer. Pulaski crosses to the couple.

                    BRENNA
You know how to handle men.

                    PULASKI
Yes, first you have to get their
            attention.

Riker chuckles. He doesn't mind being made the butt of
a joke. Brenna crosses to Pulaski.

                    BRENNA
How did you give Joey back his
            hand?

                    PULASKI
                (picking up the
                 instrument)
Oh dear, that would be difficult
            to explain.

                    BRENNA
                (frustrated)
            Like everything else aboard this
            ship. I'm too ignorant to
understand. And this is the one
            thing that looks useful.

The frustration is evident in her voice. Pulaski says
    very gently --

                    PULASKI
            You're interested in medicine?

                    BRENNA
I'm healer and midwife. Or I
            thought I was.

    Pulaski tries to comfort her.

                    PULASKI
All I've every wanted is to take
            away the hurt. These wonderful
tools help me do that, but
sometimes I feel more like a
            mechanic than a doctor.

Now the situation's reversed. Brenna takes Pulaski's
hand in both of hers, closes her eyes as she searches
    for the healing power.

                    BRENNA
You've the hands of a healer.
You can't put that in a machine.

Suddenly there's a hell of a bond between these women.
Riker knows when he's a fifth wheel.

                    RIKER
I'll leave you ladies to your
            discussions. Dinner, Brenna?
            I'll cook.

Brenna glances at Pulaski and raises her eyebrows.
Leans in close, keeping it private between the two of
    them.

                    BRENNA
            Is he real?

Both of the women are eyeing Riker thoughtfully.

                    PULASKI
                (sotto voce to Brenna)
            Oh, yes, very real.

The message is subtle -- when life offers you
something... take it. Riker knows female bonding when
he sees it. He gets the hell out of the way. Riker
    EXITS.
As well as scene 39B:

Code:
INT. CARGO HOLD (PREVIOUSLY SCENE 34)

As many extras as can possibly be squeezed into the
hold, all dressed in scruffy immigrant clothes. An
occasional cry from a baby, chickens clucking.
    Accompanied by traditionally Irish instruments,
Danilo, the colony's Shan'a'kee, imparts the history.
Worf is seated with Brenna, Picard ENTERS, and leans
    against a wall just listening.

                    DANILO
And after a long and gentle sleep
we awoke and there was Bringloid,
            our dream world. Our companions
in the butterfly ship left us
off, and said they would leave
a guard in heaven to look out for
            us.

                    DANILO (Cont'd)
They flew on in the darkness -- their
search was not yet over -- but
we had found the sun, a
            world, a home.

                    BRENNA
And now we have lost it.

                    DANILO
            We'll find another.

                    BRENNA
When? How long must we wait and
            journey?

Picard's expression has been shifting as various
emotions and realizations strike him. He crosses
    swiftly to Worf, leans in.

                    PICARD
            I finally understand. That
            distress satellite was left by
the Mariposans as a way to protect
            the Bringloidi. There were two
            colonies on that ship.

                    WORF
            Interesting, Captain.

                    PICARD
And not terribly relevant, I know.
Still, it gives one pause for
            thought....

Picard's voice trails away, and he EXITS.
And the final scene (48) is quite different:

Code:
    INT. MAIN BRIDGE

Picard in the command chair, Troi is at his side. Worf
is at Tactical. Data at OPS. Supernumerary at CONN.
Riker and Pulaski ENTER from the aft turbolift.

                    PICARD
            All squared away?

                    RIKER
            The Bringloidi have reached their
            new home.

                    DATA
It is unfortunate that we cannot
            remain for several months, and
            observe the integration of the
            two colonies.

                    PULASKI
They're going to do just fine.
            They're survivors, both of them.

                    PICARD
We've done what we could. We've
put the cats in the same sack,
and given it a good shake.

                    DATA
But what is occurring on Mariposa
            is a demonstration of
            sociobiology, and the concept of
            the selfish gene.

                    DATA (Cont'd)
            Males and females are each
            pursuing their respective
            reproductive strategies in an
            effort to maximize their
contribution to the gene pool of
            the next generation.

                    RIKER
            Data, I liked the captain's
            analogy better.

                    DATA
            Why?

                    PULASKI
            It was more romantic.

Troi is laughing. Riker is struggling to suppress a
    smile. Data is bewildered.

                    DATA
How are cats in a sack romantic?
            They would fight and scratch
            and...

    Everyone is laughing now.

                    WORF
Very romantic. I hunt in darkness.
The stars my guide. The memory
of you sings in my blood. I seize
            the gift.

The bridge crew is really entranced. Wow, Klingon
poetry. This is really building to something. What is
    the gift?

                    WORF
                (continuing)
Carry it to your bower. And lay
at your feet the hearts of my
            enemies.

The silence is deafening. Picard turns slowly back to
face the main viewscreen. Points at CONN.

                    PICARD
            Engage.
