Apparently this was broadcast Boxing day 1994 and Jummy threatened to sue...

Here's a recent comment by Louis Theroux about what he felt about Savile in that documentary all those years ago:

Recommend last night's Panorama about Savile. To answer question: when making doc, I was fairly sure he had a secret but didn't know what.

"The Catholic church in England and Wales has written to the Vatican to ask if Savile's Papal knighthood can be posthumously removed." I'm guessing the Vatican will say "hell, no, let's give him another one." Come to think of it, if he was Catholic he must have done confession - somebody needs to stop being obsessed with the BBC and get his priest(s) into an interrogation room...

Yesterday it also emerged on Yahoo news that Max Clifford is jumping into the Savile circus with both feet, representing "dozens of stars who don't remember if they shagged underage girls back in the day or not," which pretty much sounds the death knell for the Savile case being anything more serious than a cannibalistic media feeding frenzy for readers and viewers.

Well at least a actual police inverstigation is underway from all this.....i suppose that's something for those who suffered in this horrible case, might allow them to get some type of closure from it all at the end.

They've taken Paul Gadd (aka Gary Glitter) into custody today.

Speaking about Catholic Church and the "charity" of self-important sadists:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4nCaxHN-cY (the video embedding here really is appalling)

If anything I personally feel Mother Teresa was in some ways worse than Jimmy Savile (at least the charity he did was legit enough to give modern hospitals life saving machines).

I would not be surprised if Gadd cuts some kind of deal with the police for immunity for naming, shaming and verifing Savile actions..........it will be intresting to see how this pans out with him.

Not surprised they've taken Glitter in for questioning. Wonder if they'll take Freddie Starr in?!

Which is fairly usual. I'll be amazed if he doesn't end up charged with something given how many victims are coming out of the woodwork at last, I just wonder who else will end up stained by this?

Re: Jimmy Savile

I am suprised J King has not been brought into this yet....if i remember correctly there were rumours from Kings legal side way back early in his case that JS was also involved in the operation that caught King, along with a few other named celebs........ but they were warned off by the police.

Re: Jimmy Savile

I had forgotten about King.

I think what's going to be tricky from the police's perspective is trying to seperate the abused from the (likely) young women who willingly threw themselves at celebrities back then. Not saying that makes it right if underage girls were involved, but might just muddy the water enough for a clever lawyer to get someone off. I saw a quote from the Quo's Rick Parfitt talking about what the girls in the TOTP audience were like at times and there'll always been teenagers smitten with rock stars and the like (obviously Savile doesn't fall into this category but Glitter might) although even if they weren't underage, and went willingly into a dressing room, it doesn't follow that they knew what they were letting themselves in for.

Re: Jimmy Savile

Savile banned from Children in need while being allowed to host other child tv programmes............although i do see that there are those who are using this to bash the BBC with, its hard to defend them when you get stuff like this coming out.....its almost coming across a air of tolerance at the BBC at this stage from TPTB.
