Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Lauren Graham was raised by her father after her parents divorced when she was five. Growing up in northern Virginia, Graham loved to ride horses and even competed in equestrian events. A graduate of Barnard College, Graham went on to earn a master of fine arts degree in acting from Southern Methodist University in 1992. After a stint in Chicago, she moved to New York City. Graham landed some commercials and worked other jobs to make ends meet. In 1995, she moved to Los Angeles and started her television career with a recurring role on the first season of "Caroline in the City."

Parenthood: When Sarah Braverman, a financially strapped single mother, returns home to her parents and siblings in Berkeley, Calif., after packing up her Fresno apartment and uprooting her two inconvenienced kids, she is greeted by her opinionated father and strong mother who are privately dealing with their own marital issues. As Sarah is reunited with her siblings, all struggling with issues of their own, it's clear that the Braverman reunion is just what they need to face the everyday challenges of modern family life.
