Riker.

LET'S KILL RIKER.
Yeah. The let's off that jerk.

One of my favorite moments in TNG for some odd reason is when Jellico fires Riker, cut to next scene with Data in red.
I always disappointed and wondered why when Picard Ordered "Fire at Will", no one ever did (Except in Star Wreck'd)

You'll never be able to watch an episode of TNG again, without thinking about it now

It will vastly improve that series for me.

LOL, Yea, that's pretty much how it went in Star Wreck'd, but, I believe it was Data and I don't believe there was a Face Palm, that was a nice touch

Should have killed off Troi. It would fit nicely with the possible future seen in AGT.

Picard. Data downloading his memories to B-4 was the equivalent of backing up a hard drive. Not a very sensient thing to do. Androids do not have souls (unlike Vulcans and their katras) so the memories are just files without the positronic net. After all he had fought for to be accepted as a sentient lifeform (TNG: The Measure of a Man) it was cheap to have Data extinguihed. B-4 was a cheap ret-con plot device. Now if Shinzon had reassembled Lore and teamed up with him, that would have made more sense. It still wouldn't have helped the film much though with all of its issues.

I keep thinking of TaleSpin, myself.
"Fire at will!" *guy goes running as the other air pirates shoot at him* "Do not fire at Will; he is my second mate. FIRE AT THE SEADUCK!"

I was curious about something regarding the much discussed movie, Star Trek Nemesis. Forgive me for my assumption if I am wrong, but the vibe that I get is that most of us here think the Data death was a bad thing, or at the least, was poorly executed for many reasons, one of which being the presence of B-4. I loved the message that it sent in regards to Data in his quest to be more human by making the ultimate sacrifice. My question is this...if you could change a few things, who would you rather have seen killed off on "A Generation's Final Journey?" (other than Wesley Crusher of course. ) I'm asking this question in spite of not having an opinion myself, but I really do enjoy the discussions even if I have no opinion as of yet.
All of them should have died.

The Enterprise should have hit an asteroid while Troi was driving at warp 9.

The entire movie should have been killed off before it was even greenlit.

Thematically it would've worked better had Picard been the one to die.

1. It would've worked better with the story they were going for. King Arthur meets his long lost son Mordred. In the story Mordred strikes down Arthur as Arthur pierces him with a lance. Displayed in how Picard ends Shinzon.

2. Also had Picard died then Riker would likely been promoted to captain of the Enterprise. The rest of the crew would've stayed together after that. Worf and Geordi never left the Ent-E, Troi now Riker's wife wouldn't leave for the Titan, Crusher may have stayed on to keep the family together and Data would be first officer.

3. Riker's destiny would be fufilled by becoming captain of the Enterprise. There mission would be working on relations with the Romulans just like at the end of NEM. Mirroring Undiscovered Country by making a long time enemy an ally.

Picard or Shinzon, with the audience left wondering.

That is, have Stewart portray both characters (at least after Shinzon's weird biological processes reach their peak - Tom Hardy until then is fine with me), have the big fight between the two in the end, and have a person looking like Stewart sacrifice his life in order to stop the evil thing (loss of E-E, or perhaps loss of Earth) from happening, while another person looking like Stewart survives, walks away from the carnage, and sits in Picard's chair. Did Picard triumph, or did Shinzon realize how wrong he had been, have a change of heart, and finally assume the role he was destined for - that of replacing Picard?

Everybody expected Baird to pull a Gladiator with this story; that's why he was asked to do the gig the first place. A happy ending involving the death of the hero would be right up his alley, and what was expected, but with enough of a surprise twist to satisfy the audience.

These are really good, if someone had to die that is.

The first thing that should have died is the TWOK plagerism.

Maybe they could have killed off Khan again, this move seemed popular with fans the first time.

Or ... had Spock walk up to Kennedy's limo in Dallas and kill JFK with his phaser. It wouldn't have fit into the movie, but then what did?

"Androids do not have souls (unlike Vulcans and their katras) so the memories are just files without the positronic net".......

i'm not sure i agree... Mulling it over... but i think i'm thinking that an AI can become more than the sum of his/her parts... and maybe what emerges beyond the sum is the ineffable soul?

whether the 'machine' is of biological origin or not... when 'memories', 'data files', whatever~ have outlived their host, there's a possibility that they can be uploaded to another vessel/body: android, hologram, ceylon, cyborg, Human 2.0, clone, hard drive.....
i wonder if the vessel might contribute to the soul itself? it might then become a trill/symbiant thing... host & soul?

just thinkin'...

Bajor.

Shinzon aims the Thalaron weapon at the Earth, but somehow misses and hits Bajor. Everyone mourns for a bit, but soon enough everyone moves on and the memory of the ear fetishists fades.
