Shields against plasma attacks won't help you here. They only work against energy based weapons. Those torpedos deal kinetic damage.
So the best shield against it should be a resilient shield with a high cap
because it reduces bleedthrough damage and while you are at it, equip an armor console against kinetic damage.

Should be a piece of cake now to beat the mission.

Aye, a PBAoE is very useful in this fight - the "stay beyond 5km" rule is sound, but she likes to pop Evasive Maneuvers to rapidly advance on you and, if you're a cannon build, you'll be losing a lot of your own DPS output by staying away - she heals pretty quick so you need to keep the pressure up. Tractor Repulsors will do her a bit of damage as well as keeping her and her trios of torps off you, Photonic Shockwave works OK as well, but Tractors stay on for a bit so if she launches a single torpedo straight after, you might snag that one as well.

Just try and keep out of the forward arc as much as possible, not just because of the guns but because of Viral Matrix... you really need your powers for this fight, and having engines or all Auxiliary-linked powers go down at the wrong moment sucks.

The paths have no effect on speed; the original ideas for them didn't work out, largely because people objected to the wandering monsters drawing you into combat automatically. Thanks for that, but it worked. Keeping more of a distances already was a great thing to do.

Now I just made captain, and I need to decide wether I'm going for Cruiser or Escort. Probably Escort. I'd love to fly around in a Galaxy class, but I get the impression the Escorts (Defiant class) will be better, judging from the advice from the forum here.

Omega Fleet projects have identical costs and rewards. Devs have said Elite STF will reward 60 omega marks. This means only takes one single Elite STF run and a 4-5 day waiting period to unlock tier 1. Assuming project cost doubles with every tier, I estimate that it will require 1,800 marks and a minimum of 3 months to reach tier 5 reputation with one faction.

If your character is able to run 2-3 romulan fleet actions every 3 days, you'll have enough Romulan Marks to reach tier 5 in 3 months.

If your character is able to run 1 Elite STF every 3 days, you'll have enough Omega Marks to reach tier 5 in 3 months.

It should be easy to hit the above targets if you play STO on a regular basis. So for myself, I'm going to exchange all my EDCs and Borg Salvage for dilithium rather than wait for them to be converted into Marks as I know I will not have any issues hitting the above targets.

I've equipped all my ships with maco sets, i've realized that season 7 might bring new stuff, and since I can only refine 8000 dilithium per day it was pointless converting in to dilithium ore, already have enough ore to last me a whole week without doing any dill missions.

I'll only need to upgrade my other toons to max now and get them maco sets as well before season 7.

Sadly i tried to transfer extra maco sets to my other toons through bank but that is not possible.

Update, replaced my old ship with a new fleet tactical escort now,

It is much better than older defiant, also I am now in a nice fleet, with 400 active members, there abouts, and tier 4 starabse in workings, tier 4 shipyards completed just now, and quite helpful fleet too, at any point there are 20-25 members online, with 30-32 members in peak times, some are pvp players that do pvp missions and some are like me do all sorts of stuff, I like to do STF missions and starabse 24 defence missions for fleet marks.

Sadly there are loads of idiots who know nothing about 10% rule or starabase defence rules i.e protecting all 3 freighters, sticking as a team and protecting your spawning ground in stage 3, it can be really frustrating especially when you have level 20-30 coming in playing on your team, they stand no chance in a million and you need to plug the holes left by these inept players, you can;t tell them to piss off or leave the game/team it would be too rude, but by the time they realize what mess they've caused its too late. very frustrating, instead of getting 55-75 fleet marks, sometimes 15-20 suffices.


Game is getting bigger and hopefully better, only thing that really is annoying is the poor quality of some players and ease of progress through the ranks, most players don't understand game at all and by the time they are VA level 50, progress should be much tougher, it should take at least 3 months for player to progress from level 1 to level 50 or 55 w.e they bring on in season 7.

I am still learning about Doffs and how to use them best way, have unlocked additional doff slots so i can have more missions, mistakenly believing i might get extra assignment slots, that is not the case, max is 23-25 assignment slots one player can have at any given time.

I am still learning sto jargon, quite a lot to catch up to, but the fleet i am in is quite good and very helpful so it shouldn't take too long.

Telling them to leave would need to be repeated infinitely; teaching them how to play better only needs to be done a finite number of times per bad player.

in the middle of the mission with players who couldn't give a **** is hard and nearly impossible, they mess things up and that is that, you'll never ever see them again, hopefully.

If I do missions with my fleet m8s i tell them how to do it, this is if they don't know how to do it. short pre-mission briefing is all they need.

no. most of them don't talk back, they just do their stuff, I lost interest in explaining things to anyone outside my fleet, if we lose a single freighter, i am out of that mission before you can say Essex girls are easy. Often I can restart another mission without any penalty, sometimes there's 1 hour penalty, but happened to me only once. I won't waste my time with players who can't understand simple instructions at the start, plz plz defend all 3 freighters, aim for smaller warships, frigates or corvettes, thank you very much.

If they don't care, why should I, and losing a single freighter is a loss of 10 marks, loosing all 3 literally means you're wasting your time on that mission anyways.

Same goes with the cure if player doesn't understand that protecting Kang after taking down first cube is a priority and taking down raptors is far more important than taking down 2nd cube on your own when others are trying to save Kang, or 10% rule in infection or making sure no probes go through the gate in KA,...

I know, we all have a learning curve and mine was over a year ago when we did these missions as part of TrekBBS fleet, indeed it was a good learning curve, but I've played some missions with same players and they continue to mess things up, so there's little or no hope for them.

I am sorry, but you leaving after even losing a single freighter and not getting a perfect result makes you the kind of player I have absolutly no desire to play with.
It makes you very antisocial.
Sure someone made a mistake, but you deliberately screw up the entire mission for 4 other people! Think about that.
Why are you even playing the queues at all if you are in a 400 people fleet?
Anyway, playing the queues means accepting that not everything will always go pitch perfect.

And for being anti-social, perhaps, I am more of get the job done well or don't bother doing it. If I explain things to the team before the mission and they mess up, i.e do not stick to the team and help out, but instead do their own thing, I am out of there.

It is waste of my time, I'd rather be doing something else than waste it on some dimwit who can't follow a simple rule.

And btw every senior player I've come across does the same, if he/she is stuck in a team of noobs, they rather take 1 hour penalty than waste their time.

And to reply to your Que question, I need fleet marks, I do not offer lessons in how to play the game, I'll help fleet teammates with credits, consoles and stuff, give them briefing on how to play each mission if we are doing a mission, or fleet event, but the fact that I had to learn this game on my own, especially after coming back from a year absence.

Reason why I left TrekBBS fleet was cause of inactivity and lack of help in the fleet, I was on my own every time I played STO, and you'd come in with your stupid player challenges (very immature thing considering I was a noob) and trying to prove something how superior player you're.

That thing really pissed me off, one of the reasons why I left, couldn't stand your nonsense anymore, and put you on my ignore.

Elite channel is your best bet if you want to complete these stf and fleet events......i use them but i still enjoy pugs now and again simply for the sheer fun factor that they can sometimes have....rolling that dice you never know who you will get. lol

KINDA agree, but you're taking it way too far. The kind of player that quits a STF if the optional isn't working out, screwing the rest of the group completely. Especially when the optional reward is crap, and the only reason to grind these things anyway is for the random number generator at the end. So you can see why people are upset when someone screws over their team and ragequits over something so trivial in the first place?

No argument there, which is why I don't generally join PUG groups in the first place. Join the EliteSTF channel, or the Fleet Event equivalent, and get paired up with people that know which end of the phaser to hold. pairing yourself up with newbies, and then getting butthurt over them PLAYING like newbies is insane. You might get lucky with your group, but you're rolling the dice.

Again, why are all these senior players in PUG queues to begin with? I don't get into those lines unless I'm bored, and then know the risks. You're in a super-active, totally awesome fleet that does nothing but help each other, available 24/7, why the hell are you in the PUG queue? Shouldn't you have people always ready to run these with you?

You mean, the thing you just bitched Timelord (and the rest of us) out for not doing? That's the thing you're too L33T to help out with? Not saying you gotta spend your time teaching, but if you are playing with noobs to begin with, gotta have more patience, and if you help them understand the deal, they'll usually try and help. Some are just 'tards that ignore team chat completely, but can't be helped.

And now you've randomly moved on to personal insults? Huh? Not the most active fleet, but know I've always tried to help out when people are on, and always send out invites for fleet events or STFs when I'm on. No idea where you're coming from with the 'stupid player challenges' thing. Do stuff or don't, no one's making you do anything. Also free to start your OWN events if you see a gap you want to fill. whining after the fact is less productive, and can't say I've seen Timelord do any of that stuff anyway.

And again, participate where you like, ignore what you don't. If people are roleplaying and you wanna do STFs, just skip it and set up a STF run, don't stomp your feet.
