There better be a trailer soon. I am sick of all this secrecy. The trailer for Iron man 3 is coming next week.

Paramount has already started the campaign for Iron man 3 which is by far a more bigger box office draw than star trek. They cant do the same for trek because of JJ’s obsession with everything been tight lip . It could as well backfire on Paramount and hurt the film's commercial success.

Repeating the same empty complaint here about J.J. doing things the same way J.J. always does things simply isn't very likely to change the way J.J. does things. Far from backfiring, as has been already been pointed out to you more than once, that approach worked just fine for J.J and for Star Trek the last time around, and still you offer no real reasons why it shouldn't work just as well for this movie.

Reality check 1

The last time around was different as trek was coming back from the dead after the failure of nemesis and enterprise and if I remember correctly there was a trailer attached to quantum of solace which was released In November 2008. JJ’s Trek came out in may 2009.

So by this time 4 years ago, promotion had already begun for the first film.

Reality check 2

Commerical Sucess: I will kindly ask you to do more research on trek films. Trek film has never been a huge box office draw overseas and even USA with the exception of the 09 film and the Voyage home. Paramount wants to change that and believe me secrecy is not going to help it. It is best to start promoting the film early.

If you think am wrong look at Iron man 3, after the huge success of Avengers you would think iron man wouldn’t need all the publicity and promotion anymore. Unfortunately that has not been the case. the campaign for the film has already begun even the film's plotline is already out

Also look at the john carter and super 8. Their promotions were quite poor and that hurt both films Box office success.

Star Trek may go down that root if Paramount is not careful.

Reality Check 3

The only time secrecy works is when the studio does not want to promote the film early because they don’t want Film Critics reviewing the film.

Case in point another Paramount film called GI JOE. Botomline is Trek may be fun for us but to JJ and Paramount, it’s all about business and Trek needs all the publicity it can get if it is to become a huge success worldwide.

Next year is going to be crazy with films like Wolverine, Man of steel and Iron man 3. It will be sad if trek gets lost in the crowd as I strongly believe that TREK 2013 has a good chance of been the best film of next summer.....The best film of next summer that doesnt even get to be in the top five highest grossing film of the year 2013.

I hope that doesnt happen.

Whether or not the next Trek is the best film of the summer has absolutely no bearing on teaser trailers released now. Who wants to see random bits of something that's 9 months away? You're massively outnumbered by the general public who are influenced by what's on now and next week and don't give a shit about next year.

As far as I'm concerned JJ is still at the flirting stage, the heavy flirting stage with his audience. There's been innuendo, denied innuendo, photos released with dramatic headlines which showed NOTHING and then an actual video that while hot was over before it began.

This is FUN. How often does this happen? How often are we all panting in anticipation of new trek? ENJOY IT PEOPLE! ENJOY THE HECK OUT OF IT!!!

If you can't enjoy it well.. go watch your secret free dvd's from the last 700+ incarnations of Star Trek and leave the romance to the rest of us.

The only people who want a trailer now are the ones who are gonna see it regardless. We'll get a teaser trailer in December, that's fine by me. Then the build and build and build until May 17.

The only thing about nuTrek I hate is that there are no novels to tide me over between movies. All we have is weak young adult Academy books and the TOS-episode-remakes comic, the first two issues of which did not impress me.

Am not saying there should clips on the internet.all am saying is that the film is just to hush hush.why cant the promotion be moderate.I doubt I am not with the majorrity who thought the clip on Conan was just plain stupid and not funny.

If you think people dont give a shit about next year then box office mojo,SFX and Empire magaziine wont have any prediction of next year summers film and neither will they ask their users to predict the how well the films will do.

In UK the new bond film is out next week.All I am saying is that the secrecy of this film is just to over the top.there are people even saying the film secrecy is over the top because the film sucks.

I for one wont go that far.

As someone has already pointed out, the people who are whining about no teasers, trailers or spoilers are the ones who will be first in the queue when the film is released, so any arguments about it hurting the box office are just self-justification.
