I agree, looks fake and surely if it was official it would have thousands of likes. Still only 361.

Re: Facebook Into Darkness + movie tagline

According to the update posted 3 minutes ago : An exclusive trailer from Star Trek Into Darkness will be posted when we reach 500,000 likes! Share this to your friends! The fate of our page rests in your hands. Live long and prosper.

There's a pic of the trailer which looks suspiciously like it came from the 3 frames revealed by JJ.

I'm still calling BS on this one.

PROVE ME WRONG PEOPLE, I WANT TO BE WRONG!

Oh, but that's not the way to convince me you're legit, guys. That sounds a lot more like plain hit-count whoring by someone wholly unconnected to either the movie or Paramount.

Why would the actual official Facebook page have the word "official" in its URL, anyway? That strikes me as having greater utility to someone pretending to be official than the real deal.

I mean, look. Here's the official URL for the Man Of Steel Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/manofsteel

It's completely uncluttered with bullshit.

Re: Facebook Into Darkness + movie tagline

The Anton Yelchin page which is promoting that competition is also promoting the "official" Trek into Darkness page. This casts some (more) doubt on that competition which sounds a bit too good to be true. You need to like the Anton Yelchin page to enter the competition.

Yourself and FIVE friends flown to the premiere? Given 60,000 dollars? I'm starting to doubt this. Maybe it's just an email harvesting scheme.

Looks like the IMDb link on the "About" page has now been replaced with a link to:
http://www.startrekintodarkness.com/
Which currently goes nowhere, generating an error message:
Could not locate remote server

Check that the address is spelled correctly, or try searching for the site.
Mhm.
Yes, the website is undergoing development and is roughly scheduled to be released December 2012.

We adjusted the contest's marketing strategy shortly after launching it. You are longer needed to like Anton Yelchin's page, instead you are entered immediately after liking Star Trek Into Darkness. No personal data is required for contest entry. The winner will be selected from the pool of fans on April 30th, 2013 at 11:59pm, minus any accounts who have since disliked the page.

For clarification purposes, I work within the West Coast Division of Viacom. We are handling the promotion needs for Star Trek Into Darkness.

I apologize for any confusion we've caused due to our adjustments. Unfortunately, this is all that I can speak on this matter or the film. Please send any other inquiries to help@viacom.com.

Re: Facebook Into Darkness + movie tagline

TrekWeb has announced it:

http://trekweb.com/articles/2012/10/...he-Movie.shtml

Whether that means anything I have no idea.

I'm wondering why this is getting no mention at startrek.com.

^^ The "press release" shows a release date of May 14th, while the real date is May 17th.

Also, for some one "work within the West Coast Division of Viacom", he sure likes to post in the middle of the night, west cost time...

oh noooo! i liked the facebook page!!!! let the spam begin.

also, on trekweb's page they show the character images with the planet below. the date on the lower right of the poster shows the 09 release date. maybe they just grabbed this stock image because there isn't a new official poster yet. i hope the facebook page and contest are legit but it's kind of a clumsy launch. 60k prize money also seems a bit random.

There's no link back to an official source, so no.

I don´t know. TrekWeb shows it as Paramount Pictures
PRE-EVENT PRESS RELEASE, without source or link. Are they sure?

I prefer to wait.
