Hello everyone!

Newest member and all that jazz, aside from being a Star Trek dork, I'm also a conlang dork that has started working on a Gorn language, so hopefully I'll be doing some show n' tell on that idea once it's fleshed out!

Hi guys,

Newbie here, long time lurker, first time poster.

Grew up with TOS and TNG on the telly, recently finished watching through all the films again, and working my way through Enterprise at the minute. Started into the books recently, read the Q Continuum books which I thought were great, and more recently just finished Andrew J Robinson's A Stitch in Time - loved DS9 and Garak in particular, hence the username, great book.

Hope to get to know some of you around the boards!

Welcome. I liked the book, too, though I've forgotten who Bamarren was. I hope you'll have a good time here.

Welcome Fellow Trekkies? Ah, one of your Earth customs...

So I'm Jason, from Winston-Salem (NC born but not raised!). Growing up (in Fort Wayne, Indiana) I probably read more about Star Trek than I ever did much watching, thanks to the Encyclopedia and the Chronology. I did have the 6 TOS films + Generations in a box set, so I watched those (upgrading to the special edition DVD sets later). TNG and DS9 got shuffled all over the place on my local stations (TOS was nowhere to be found...or maybe I just didn't look that hard), and by the time Voyager started airing on UPN, well, we had either cable or DirecTV that didn't carry UPN! (oh, the fun of syndication!)

Mostly I just watched episodes where I could; it wasn't until very recently when I snagged the TOS DVD sets, followed by the TNG DVD sets and then the TOS Blu-ray sets (thanks eBay!) that I could really dig in and finally catch up on all those episodes that I'd read the Okuda's plot summaries of for so long! Now I'm here and enjoying what I've read so far as a lurker; trying to participate more, if I have something to contribute.

Re: Welcome Fellow Trekkies! The GTD Get to Know You thread

Hi everybody,

I've been a fan since I was a kid.

I first caught ST when TNG was freshly airing.

I followed ST from TNG > DS9 (I missed too many episodes during it's first run) > VOY

I didn't watch ENT until recently and found it to be pretty good, not as good as the above 3, but not as bad as the fans would like to make it out to be.

As far as TOS, I can't get into it's campy style and old VFX.

I own all of TNG, DS9, VOY on DVD. I'll eventually get ENT when it comes out on BD in a series set.

So nice to meetcha all. I've been looking for a nice Trek forum. I'm glad I found one.

=D

Re: Welcome Fellow Trekkies! The GTD Get to Know You thread

It took me over 10 years (about 13 or 14) to get into TOS but I love it now.

Re: Welcome Fellow Trekkies! The GTD Get to Know You thread

Hi everyone. Very happy to be here!
I'm from a family of Star Trek fans. My mother taught me to do the Vulcan salute when I was about 7 years old. I'm a huge TOS and TNG fan. I remember staying up late as a kid watching reruns of both. Captin Kirk was my first crush.

I'm currently getting into Star Trek literature, if anyone has suggestions on books that would be awesome.

Proud Spock fan girl!
