STO Roleplay: Task Force Phoenix

Stardate 64387: The Federation has mainly recovered after the devastating war with the Dominion.
Many colonies, smaller spacefaring races and unalligned forces which were affected by the war are still in political turmoil and in a difficult rebuilding process in many regions of space of the Alpha and Beta Quadrant.

The destruction of Romulus results in many political differences throughout the quadrant to heaten up, raids by pirates, scarce resources and overpopulated colonies by refugees.

The Federation council approves of a special joined task force to counter the criminality, act as a peacekeeping armada and carry on Starfleet's primary mandate for exploration and diplomacy.

In honor of a similar endevour in the early 21st century on Earth it is designated "Task Force Phoenix".

It's mandate:

Establish a peacekeeping presence of Starfleet and allied civilization's space navies in Sector 746649.

Patrol the neighboring systems.

(Re-)establish diplomatic relations with colonies and alien worlds.

Build a new permanent Starbase as a hub for fleet support, humanitarian help and commerce.

Task Force Phoenix will primarily be Starfleet Ships and crews, but every race of the quadrant receives an invitation to participate and can send in their forces as well.
This can include Federation member worlds like Vulcans, Caitians, Andorians and non aligned worlds (Ferengi, Cardassian and even Dominion) as well as traders and diplomats.

Appointed as contact and commander of the Task Force is Andorian Fleet Captain Thyris.
Applications to join are to be sent to him.

As a first objective he issues the plan to establish task force council to determine administrative work and distribution of resources as well as plans for military operations.

That council may consist of rotating members of Starfleet and other allegiances.

Re: RPG Recruitment Thread

United Confederation Fleet Wants You!
United Confederation Fleet is newly formed and just a few weeks from the end of it's first quarter. The United Confederation Fleet is the operational exploratory and military authority of the Planetary Alliance political coalition. It was formally formed in 2404 then reformed in 2412 and superseded the role of the Starfleet Command which was a more loosely controlled body tasked with the same purpose.

The UCF, as it it is more commonly referred to, is a structured military styled organization with starships, facilities and personnel donated by it's member governments.

Operation of the UCF is overseen by the Planetary Alliance Council which draws its members from each government that has signed into contributing and cooperating with the UCF. This council appoints a Commander in Chief who commands the organization on a day to day basis.

We currently have 4 sims, 2 starships, a starbase and a Risa (Rated 18+, but, not XXX) sim. All are looking for crew. With UCF your character is not limited to just the Federation, but, you can have them come from the military of any of the member governments!!!!

Our sims currently include:

CSS Enterprise:

Winds of Change
In the wake of massive cutbacks and resource mismanagement in the Federation and attacks on both aligned and non-aligned world by those posing as Starfleet a new government has been proposed. Built in the image of the former United Confederation Fleet or UCF they will be forces and politicians drawn from participating worlds. In theory to allow better access to those who do not wish to join the Federation. But already new forces have reared their heads to conduct terrorist attacks on non-Cardassiasns using bio-weapons. In these dark times will the UCF and Alliance succeed?

Risan Hedony State:

Prelude - Seceding from the Federation
After several years of discontent with the Federation and StarFleet the Risan government had come to a painful decision of seceding from the Federation and becoming an independent world.

But with this decision came some major consequence they had to give up StarFleet protection both on land and in space. Which has allowed the Orion Syndicate to run rampant both in space and on the ground and allow some other crime syndicates to run rampant.

Now with a new fleet coming into power the Risan Hedony State is considering using them for training and protection in space.

Starbase Nimitz:

Starbase Nimitz is is located near the edges of Federation and Romulan space roughly 30 light years from SD-6. The starbase was recently turned over to UCF control to give the Fleet a foothold deeper in the quadrant.

USS Heyerdahl(sims in the new Star Trek movie universe, set in 2242):

Look Who's Talking
The crew of the Heyerdahl return to the ship after four months of downtime and reassignment. During that time, the ship underwent a number of systems upgrades, among which the new vocal computer interface, which still has a few kinks. Stationed at Starbase 12, the Heyerdahl awaits the arrival of old and new crew before setting off on another mission.

Orion Colony [Brand New]:

Orion, the son of Poseidon and Eulyra. The noble hunter who was born of the gods and immortalized in the night skies of Earth.

It is ten years after the end of the Dominion War and the Quadrants have entered a fragile peace. The Federation, Klingons and Romulans have worked together to try to rebuild, but things are never as quiet as they seem. Orion Colony has been tasked a part in the protection of this peace. They assist nearby starbases and colonies in defense and aid while continuing to conduct research on the lost civilization that once inhabited the system.

Join us as we protect the the innocent, discover the unknown, and explore the final frontier...

CSS Andoria:

The Call of the Sirens

The USS Andoria has just been assigned to the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 93 along the Romulan Neutral Zone. At lot of attention was paid the USS Andoria since it was the first ship since the late 2260's to be named for one of the founding worlds of the Federation.

However before the Andoria is even out of the door of Deep Space Six, Commodore Gabriel West has ordered the ship to look into the matter of several mission ships along the newly reduced Romulan Neutral Zone. The Andoria has been order to investigate why over ten ships have been reported mission by several shipping companies.

In addition to those sims we have a "mothball fleet" which has several sims that have open CO positions.

Check out and join today!!!

The Starbase Byron/Terra Alpha sim is set in the Star Trek universe (But a slightly altered one) in the year 2417. The old United Federation of Planets is no more - replaced by a far more corrupt, evil and almost... mirror... counterpart, the Terran Imperium, about a year prior to where we are now in game play. The newly terraformed planet, dubbed Terra Alpha is the center of a new fledgling alliance, called the Terra Alpha Alliance. With Romulans, Cardassians, Trill, Orions and others as part of this new alliance, they fight the good fight against the evils and fascism of the Terran Imperium.

We currently have a few ways you can play with us - you can take on a small ship of your own and be one of our CO's, you could take a departmental position within Starbase Byron. You could take a governmental position within the Terra Alphan government. Or you could be a civilian and run a bar, be a smuggler, a biker gang member, a scientist or engineer.

Our roots are in an older sim, the USS Mata Hari - a Section 31 sim, but we also have roots in the now defunct Python Fleet sim. We're a little wild, wooly and wackly, but we try to breed creativity and quality over quantity.

Currently we are in need of experienced simmers who've played in the following departments

Security - Medical - Engineering - Marines

We have no real limit on the number of characters you can play - as long as they make sense! No Vampires, Werewolves or "magical" characters. But we do not mind characters based on other species from other sci-fi franchises, as long as they fit into the Star Trek universe.

If you're interested in joining us - come on down to our forum

Re: RPG Recruitment Thread

Hey Trekkies, I'm in the planning stages of a TOS Movie Era Simming site and am looking for anyone who'd like to help build it. I have webspace and forums set up already. What I really need is help in getting the website built up and recruiting. My goal is to create a Trek Writing community. I'm not looking to get into a Bravo Fleet, Obsidian Fleet, et al. type set up. There will be a few admins to maintain the site and moderate the forums, but other than that there won't be any "admiralty" or any kind of hierarchy. I have a site wide universal backdrop that is a hodge podge of ideas from several different sims and players over the past few years that I would love to put together in mind, but nothing absolutely concrete as yet. Here's a short synopsis.

The year is 2289. (100 years earlier than most of your sim fleets running the Post Nemesis timeline.) In 2189, the Starship Endeavor, NCC-06, found a stable spatial anomoly on the Beta Quadrant;s unexplored frontier. After sending several probes through the anomoly, and recieving telemetry back, the Endeavor's crew learned that the Anomoly was a wormhole that led to an unexplored area of space. Before they were able to discover just where it lead, it closed. But contained in the probe's telemetry were visuals of other probes sent through, launched some fifty years earlier by Klingons. The Endeavor reported their findings to Starfleet Command and the matter was shoved to the back burner.

In 2290, the Anomoly opened again. This time there was a monitoring station nearby and a great deal more was learned about the Area of space on the other side of the anompoly, now called "The Rabbitt Hole" by the Starfleet Research teams assigned to study it. Probe Telemetry revealed a Star system near the far opening with an inhabitable planet. Without making it known throughout the Federation, Starfleet quickly sent three ships through the Anomoly and all arrived safely on the other side. Their mission was to set up a base of operations on the other side of the Anomoly and begin prepping for a colony expedition the next time the anomoly opened in 2289. Due to the unique nature of the mission, the crews of those three vessels were allowed to bring their immediate families with them. The Ptolemy Class supply ship was fitted with enough supplies and building materials to construct an outpost on the inhabitable planet. After the first three ships arrived, their findings and sensor telemetry revealed many discoveries, and several more questions about the area of space they'd come to inhabit. The biggest question was, Where are we? Navigational sensors revealed that the area of space on the other side of the Rabbit Hole was outside of the Milky Way Galaxy. When the Rabbitt Hole closed after being open for some 10 days, that mystery was still without an answer.

After the anomoly closed, Starfleet Command began putting together a colony expedition for 2289. It was named Distant Shores, and would be passed off to several different administrators before the Rabbit Hole opened again on 24 May 2289. There would be upwards of ten thousand colonists, Starfleet crews, and scientists going through when the anomoly opened again. And they had fifty years to prepare.

We're going to begin our story in 2290. Almost a year after the expedition arrives and begins settling the planet and exploring the surrounding space. I see this type of simming as a kind of homage to the original Trek, in that we'll be exploring strange new worlds and seeking out new civilizations instead of re-hashing the same old races, friends, villains, and stories that have been done before. Each race that we encounter will be created by us, and I already have several in the works. So if you loved the old school Trek of the movie era, and would like to be a part of a new community from the ground up, please shoot me an e-mail at, and or reply to this thread. Like I said, we're very much in the planning stages at this point, and I am hoping to get something up and running by October, if not before.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to working with you!

Calling all Marines!!

I am Calling all Starfleet Marine players or players that are interested in the Starfleet marines as outlined on the bravo fleet wiki. I am currently recruiting for the USS Midway, an Akria class star ship assigned to Task Force 86 apart of bravo fleet.

We are the only marine controlled vessel on bravo fleet, Marines have always been just a small part of the Star Trek expanded universe, I want them to finally have a larger role. My sim is going to be combat oriented, not exploratory or science. We will be the right cross of Starfleet.

Our first mission will be trying to find out who is destroying cargo and federation ships along the federation, Gorn, and Tholian borders. With the destruction of Romulus and Remus the entire quadrant is starting to destabilise, the Klingons are mobilizing, The Gorn are fortifying their boarders, the Tholians are annexing systems at an accelerated rate, and the Orion Pirates are getting bolder. Taskforce 86 and the USS midway are ready to protect federation interests in this time of struggle.

I need a Chief Helm officer, Chief Tactical/security, Chief Science, Chief Medial, Chief Engineer, and a Star Fighter Wing Commander.

If you don’t want to be a marine and you are still interested in a position on the Midway you are still welcome, we are happy to have regular fleet officers onboard, it will allow for some interesting character subplots as we learning to work together.

If this sounds like the Sim for you, please contact me at with the position you would like, You can check out the Sim at

An experiment in democracy

If there are any good (I mean good) Trek writers out there who enjoy exploring the setting but who find themselves a bit stifled by the excessive structure of Starfleet service, please consider paying a visit to the SS Fawkes website.

Our Nova-based sim is a "low fantasy"-style story set in and around the Bajor Sector, circa 2388. It tells the story of a small band of misfits and adventurers who use an aging Groumal-class cargo freighter as a semi-legal source of profit and as a way into greater personal freedom.

Most of the crew is or has been in trouble with the law -- or will be in fairly short order. They have little in common but their desire to escape convention and oppression. There is no squabbling over rank or position here, and no new-player hazing; everyone brings their full skill set to the table, and everyone contributes equally. All our stories are centered around the needs, talents, and backgrounds of our characters. It's a very different environment than a military starship, but it affords some special opportunities.

We've been going for about three months now and could use a few more dedicated players. If you are over eighteen, have a solid command of English, and can manage a minimum two tags a week and two posts a month, come on over and check us out! Thanks.

Multiple Games with Openings..

While talking with a few friends about the need for a few more players in our games, the suggestion came up to come here and post an advertisement for the games / groups and so that if anyone out there is interested they can come take a peek. So..

I decided it can't hurt take a quick moment and make one post for several games which have current openings for players. Below you'll find information and links to four Star Trek RPGs all of which have openings for players now.

If you're interested, check them out and join up. The games are easy going, relaxed atmosphere and a lot of fun.

So..without further ado, the following RPG games each have current available openings. All four operate using the Nova web gaming system, so please check the 'Personel > Open Positions' links to see what is currently available.

Thank you!

Star Trek: The New Frontiers RPG

The Dominion War hasn't happened yet. The Borg haven't been encountered yet.

The year is 2264 the year that the historic five year mission was to start. Only this isn't your father's Star Trek anymore.

Thanks to an incredible battle that began in the 25th century. The former crew of the USS Chimera NCC-82002 have found themselves in a new alternate reality. One they have pledged to protect as if it were their own by all possible means. The truth about them is only known to a handful of people.

Star Trek: Voyager RPG

A re-imaged version of the series, taking the basic concept of <em>Voyager</em> and having a little fun with it as we go! We have a few positions open at the moment, please check the ship personnel page for current open positions.

U.S.S. Nautilus RPG

Someone, or something, has begun to manipulate the time stream - causing small, apparently unimportant shifts in the timeline. Whoever is behind these shifts must be found and stopped, before a major change occurs...

U.S.S. Victory-A RPG

The U.S.S. Victory-A RPG is a member of Task Force 38, Bravo Fleet.

After a brief hiatus, we are attempting to get back on track with a new website, a new CO and currently have several key positions available for interested candidates to apply for.

To view current openings, visit the Personnel Page and click on 'Open Positions'

Re: RPG Recruitment Thread

In 2387, the Hobus star went supernova, destroying Romulus and sending the Romulan Star Empire into disarray. In an offer of friendship, Starfleet dispatched Bravo Fleet's Task Force 93 to Romulan space to aid relief efforts. Shrewder elements within Starfleet, however, saw it another way: it was a perfect opportunity to collect information and influence affairs within the Empire, as never before has there been such open access to Romulan space.

This is the context in which the USS Enigma, an Ares-class vessel, has been commissioned into Bravo Fleet's Task Force 93. Officially, its role is to assist the tenuous Romulan government with dissident factions. Unofficially, however, its darker purpose is to gather intelligence on the Empire and conduct covert operations to ensure that the next era of the Empire is one favorable to the Federation.

With such a mandate, the USS Enigma is no ordinary commission. Beyond general starship operations, the rest of the standard crew compliment has been foregone in favor of a cross-discipline Starfleet Intelligence Special Operations detachment. Instead of a Marine detachment, it carries an Operations unit with teams prepared for direct engagements and unconventional operations such as surveillance, infiltration and interrogation; instead of a Diplomatic Corps unit, it includes a Negotiations Unit equipped not only to handle diplomatic affairs but also to perform behavioral analysis and handle hostage negotiations; and instead of the Strategic Operations, Intelligence, and Science departments, it has an Analysis Unit that bridges the three disciplines to offer comprehensive operational assessment and planning.

Ever wonder about the darker side of Starfleet? The Enigma is looking for creative writers interested in being part of one such story. As it is just getting underway, it has many senior positions available, so please feel free to check out our sim details and upcoming missions and, if you're interested, submit an application today!
