Congratulations to R.A. Dickey - first Met pitcher to reach 19 wins in a season since '90 (Frank Viola with 20, and Doc Gooden with 19, both that year). :techman:

    Edit: And...Yankees win in 14! A walk-off E3.

BTW, this shirt design with the state silhouette makes me think of how boring it'd be if Colorado had won. :)

Eh, Mr. Met saw the writing on the wall a long time ago.

Yeah, Dickey going for 20 wins was keeping him going, but in the end even that was not enough.

My Wild Card tickets are officially valid unless the Braves end up the winning the division.

Nice, I went to Game 2 of the 2006 NLCS. So Taguchi hit the game winning home run while I was taking a piss. Still, attending a playoff game is amazing.

David Wright just became the Mets' all-time hits leader. :techman:

More serious note: Dusty Baker (Reds manager) had a stroke in addition to irregular heartbeat, but expects to return to duty soon. Linky

That was no hit, should have been ruled an error.

Was at Fenway last night, and ended up running the bases (after the game, and was invited, didn't decide to randomly streak ;) ) Just felt like I needed to brag about that somewhere. Had been on the warning track around the field plenty of times, in the Monster once, but first time actually on the field itself. Very cool... :D

Cool, so you have spent more time running the bases then the actual Red Sox. JK, isn't it great, that feeling when your on the field.

I've been on the field of Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Nice place, but if you're an American guy just killing time who doesn't follow European soccer, I think something is lost in the translation.

Holy shit, the Indians fired Manny Acta, apparently because he didn't heal Grady Sizemore, fix Ubaldo's mechanics, remove Justin Masterson's platoon split, use Jedi mind tricks to propel Casey Kotchman, Johnny Damon and Shelley Duncan to league-average production or personally drive Derek Lowe to the Fountain of Youth.

    Cleveland ... y'all are morons.

    How do you figure?

And on a lighter note, R.A. Dickey gets his 20th win! :techman:

Acta could be a good fit in Miami if they'll let a white guy coach.

Groovy. Pitchers' win / loss records are completely and utterly meaningless.

In a completely lost season otherwise, that was something I was rooting for.
