Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
Having more nacelles, saucer sections, hulls and such, would allow for a lot more customisation, and i think the extra variation on ships would be fun... Could even have some 'battle damage' skins, where phaser marks and such were showing ![]() M

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
The others look Mystery Package boxes. If you open them, they will contain either a Lock Box or a Gold Lock Box. Those are opened with keys that cost 125 Zen ($1.25 US), or less if you buy them in bulk. You can sell them if you don't want to open them, but they don't go for much, unless they're Gold Lock Boxes, which have a much higher chance of containing the best loot (including unique ships). Most people sell Gold Lock Boxes or open them, and trash regular ones; some people sell the latter for pocket change.

I'm not blowing up as often as I thought I would. This is my 1st full on T5 science ship. Grav well 3 is very fun, nothing escapes it! hahaha! The ablative armor is more of a trick then something useful. Playing a support role is pretty fun and the style of battle takes getting used too, gotta keep moving! All in all, a tough little ship.

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
I did 103 total STFs on this toon. So the average drop rate of a proto tech piece, of which there are 12, comes down to one in 8.5 STF runs. It was even a bit better i think, because I misclicked once and got an Omega piece when i wanted a MACO. |

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
I've run 254 STFs, and just finally got the last piece of the 2nd space set (so have MACO and Omega MK XII sets). Of the ground stuff, I've received a single piece, from KAGE. Granted, haven't run Infected a ton, as it's annoying. CGE I've run a million times, and never gotten ANY drop, blue or purple. Getting pretty annoyed at that one, i can run it in my sleep at this point, and there's just no reward coming for me. So, of my 254 runs, I've gotten the 6 space ones, plus an extra shield and deflector. And just the KAGE ground piece. 3.5%, or one every 22 runs or so... Blue ones are even hit or miss. Probably have 5 of the CSE blue engine, collected and stacked while waiting for the final purple to hit.

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
Once you get to the end, though, really need the DPS that the escort brings. And once you fly the escort, and gear yourself up for it properly, you really can't go back. Tanking is useful in a team, but it's boring. You can't turn, you just broadside and see how much damage you can take before you pop. The Escort lets you zip around, pour way more fire onto the enemy, and actually steer the ship a bit. And since most of the bad guys are all screwed up and 1-shot you if you get hit anyway, the extra hull rarely gives you much. I can survive against a couple enemies just fine, and have stuff to heal and get back in. If a cube pops me, nothing I can do anyway. And in the meanwhile, I'm doing a ton more damage, and it's more fun to fly.

Re: Star Trek Online Discussion Thread (now free to play!)
![]() The Sovereign is great for being middle of the road, too. Decent DPS, solid tanking. I'd love to get my hands on the new Sovvy, but that's money I can't spare. The Odyssey class, though, she's just one massive tank, and while slow and turns like a skyscraper, can take a lot of abuse before giving up the ghost. It also helps that the Tac Odyssey has the escort, which helps boost the DPS capability of the Ody. That's the one I'm flying right now.

Of course, they might save that for the personal renown system coming in Season 7.
