B4? Hopefully we're not going to see the Resurrection of Data, one main character coming back from the dead is definitely enough for one year.....
I've seen some speculation among fans that hope that's exactly what will happen, but I seriously doubt it. I don't think David Mack is going that direction. If anything I expect a serious curve ball.

Those pips look suspicious... maybe I'm remembering wrongly but I thought Geordi was a full commander now?

Well, consedering an earlier synopsis for this novel said something about the TP wanting to create an army of androids, B4's part will probably be no more then that.

I'm actually betting it's a flashback involving Soong, rather than Data....

^ Indeed. My original working title for the book was A Soong of Ice and Fire, but for some reason the publisher put the kibosh on that. Can't imagine why.

LOL!
But seriously, didn't Soong die on ST:TNG? Unless there's that whole "having an escape plan wherever he went" idea that Soong put into place again.

Him being on the cover doesn't mean he's back in this novel. It could just mean there's something else going on here that involves the legacy of the Soong androids.

Suffice to say I hate we have to wait another month for this!

Well, Soong was a very old man at the time of TNG, and the image on the cover is of his younger self. Make of that what you will.

That was what I was thinking as well. Maybe we'll get to see when he first started working on his androids?

The image is actually from a vision of Soong that Data has in a dream. http://de.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Noonien_Soong

Yeah, I know the page is in German. The English version doesn't have that image from birthright.

Re: Still no covers for Cold Equations??

^Yes, but the dream Soong was presumably programmed into Data by the real, younger Soong when he built Data. I took it as basically a playback of a recorded message. Although now that I think about their relative ages, I think Soong would've been somewhere around 60 at the time he built Data, so I guess he must've programmed in a younger image of himself, no doubt out of the same vanity that led him to make his androids look like him (and, again, like his younger self).

Maybe it's Bob Wheeler in a TNG crossover with "Night Court"?

Soong probably made that Jell-O mold (seen in "Datalore") early in his career.
