Looks great. A bit too great? I liked how the old animated series episode 'Legends of a Dark Knight' did the colours and the dialogue. See here

One of my favorite pieces of Batman animation to this day. Ironside was perfect for the voice (and frankly still would be).

DVD/Blu-Ray cover art and specs revealed. The cover art looks great but I was kind of hoping for that iconic cover...maybe they'll save that for part two.

I'd bet cash money that the cover to part 2 will feature Batman and Superman fighting.

It's not bad, but it doesn't evoke the film's distinctive animation style.

Yeah, without knowledge of the title that art tells you nothing about the story. It could be used for any Batman movie or comic. Its very generic.

I agree. It's lovely art work, but too generic looking. Batman looks nothing like "The Dark Knight Returns" Batman. He looks like present day Batman.

I'm with you guys. I would think they would have tried to go with something that makes the setting a little more obvious for people like me who haven't read the comic. It looks like a fairly standard Batman image.

Re: The Dark Knight Returns animated movies news

I do hope AJK is right...I'd love to see Supes and Bats on the image for part two. That'd be an awesome cover.

First clip online. Interestingly, it's the one that provides that famous cover art - but also, the 'We're in for a show, kid!' exhange between cops which also turned up in the Dark Knight Rises.

Judging from that clip, I find it to be too slick, both in appearance and performances, to really capture the flavor of the original.

I would guess it's this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UltraViolet_(system)
UltraViolet (UV) is a digital rights authentication and cloud-based licensing system that allows users of digital home entertainment content to stream and download purchased content to multiple platforms and devices. UltraViolet adheres to a "buy once, play anywhere" approach that allows users to store digital proof-of-purchases under one account to enable playback of content that is platform- and point-of-sale-agnostic.
So... y'know, it's... that. Thingy.

Michael Emerson from Lost is to voice The Joker. Funnily enough, his is a name which keeps coming up on wishlists to play a live-action Riddler. Here's what he has to say about playing the clown prince of crime:

“He’s one of those great villains that an actor like me likes to play because he has layers – he has a face for the world and a face for himself. He is, in a way, a villain who is a natural actor. All of that is that is delightful and confounding at the same time. It’s freeing because of the largeness of it. When he laughs, there’s nothing subdued about it. When he screams in rage, there’s nothing controlled about it. The amp is turned to 11 at all times.”
There's also a pic of what the Joker from TDKR will look like at the above link.
