Re: PICTURE POST II!
Occasionally, it happens to everyone, that they accidentially say something that has a double meaning. Inevitably someone else will take the opportunity to make fun of it (I do that a lot myself). And exactly that happened here. However, I am sure it was meant as a harmless joke and certainly not intended as an insult to any member of your family. I think this is once again one of the cases where cultural differences cause huge misunderstandings: Please take into account that not in every culture family is so highly valued as in Italy. For most of us, making fun of someone's relatives would not count as an offense. For an Italian with their very tight family bonds and touchy sense of honour a joke about someone's family would naturally be taken far more serious. Running away is no good solution. It would be better if you'd explain exactly why you find the remark insulting. Then we would understand and could avoid similar misunderstandings in the future. You make such pretty photos, it would be a huge loss if you'd leave. Please do stay. And since it was mentioned that you were attacked previousely: if anyone flames or harasses you, we'll defend you and the Mods will step in as well. It's their job and our duty as your friends. ============== I love the chicken pic! It reminds me of my own granny who when I was a child often took me to the farm where she used to buy eggs. They always had little chickens in spring In Bavaria, we call them 'Singerl' because the sounds they make resemble singing. What do you feed them in Italy? In Bavaria we give them a mixture of hard boiled egg, quark (a ricotta-like cheese) and nettles. Lots of minerals and proteins that make them grow quickly. ====== Awesome storm clouds, RyanKCR! The first pic looks quite frightening

Re: PICTURE POST II!
Ruaidhri's comment did have a winky face following it, but it's still an insult to someone who has made it clear that she doesn't play that way. A grandparent is a revered family member and strangers making jokes like that can't help but be seen as making a callous attempt at stirring up trouble for a brief thrill. It was out of place, especially given the history involved. I don't know Ruaidhri at all, but perhaps it wasn't his intention to be callous. In any event an apology would be the right thing to do.

):![]() I'm going to get a wide, plain frame for it, and decoupage Avengers pics around it.

Re: PICTURE POST II!
I'll echo someone else's plea: please don't go. I greatly enjoy your photos and love that you post them, and wouldn't want you to stop. My comment was meant as a joke, not with any mean spirit, and I hope you'll recognize that this is a sincere apology. It never occurred to me that my joke might be misconstrued.

Re: PICTURE POST II!
Plus, no one has asked you to leave or implied having any such desire, but if you want to, then you can just leave. The "asking the admin to delete my account" thing is a tired cliché. They don't delete accounts, it's not necessary to do so for you to go (if you think you'll be tempted to come back and lack resolve, just scramble your password), and it's usually just a means to grab attention and well-wishes by people who don't actually intend to leave. Not saying that's what you're doing here, but that's how it's often used, and it gets old.
How can a joke about a grandmother having baby chicks every spring possibly be interpreted as a callous attack on a revered family member? It's not even an insult, and it's so absurd and whimsical I don't know how anyone could possibly take it seriously. Ruaidhri is one of the nicest, most polite and respectful posters in these parts, so being that type of person he might apologize anyway just to smooth things over. But rest assured, no apology is owed for what was an obvious and friendly joke. This is such a ridiculous tempest in a teapot. Edited to add: See, he already apologized while I was typing this up. He ninja'd me with niceness.

Re: PICTURE POST II!
Cool contrast with the blue sky and the building silhouettes below. Love the tones and mood of this photo. Great framing, too! This ... this is the perfect shot. Scenic, peaceful. Love balance between foreground and background, too ... The Taconic Parkway is such a scenic drive (provided it isn't snowing/raining). One of these days I'm going to have to go exploring the park itself. Great shot! I really like the watery reflections.
