Names based on colors don't strike me as odd since they're straightforward and simply descriptive of the superhero's appearance. Names based on superlatives are much weirder if you apply real world logic (which of course one shouldn't when it comes to some aspects of superheroes). Superman and Wonder Woman maybe get away with it because they're given their names by the press, but for Reed Richards to choose to call himself Mr. Fantastic is rather strange:

Re: Green Arrow (CW)

Now, this is an odd comics character to bring in:

http://www.greenarrowtv.com/arrow-ca...epmother/11407

The writers of Arrow weren’t kidding when they said they were dipping into the DC Comics universe with mentions or allusions to other parts of that world.

The latest allusion comes in the third episode, “Lone Gunmen.”

A casting website listed Emily Bett Rickards as being cast as “Felicity Smoak.” This is a potentially recurring role — or at least, that’s what the casting website says. Emily has confirmed that she was shooting Arrow today on her @EmilyBett Twitter feed.

What the casting site doesn’t say is that Felicity Smoak is a character from DC Comics, first appearing in Fury Of Firestorm #23 nearly thirty years ago. In the comics, Smoak was a manager of a computer software company who later ended up suing Firestorm. Oops.

Not knowing about the connection between Firestorm and his half-alter ego, Ronnie Raymond, Smoak ended up in a relationship with Raymond’s father and eventually married him. As far as we know, Smoak hasn’t appeared in the “New 52″ comics.

It actually makes perfect sense if you understand that Reed Richards is a total asshole - his best friend has just been turned into a rock monster due to Reed's shoddy job on shielding the ship and Ben says

"I ain't Ben anymore, I'm what Sue called me... The Thing"

and what are the next words out of Reed's mouth?

"And I'll call myself Mr. Fantastic!"

Guy is an asshole.

John Barrowman joins the cast.

EW is reporting that Torchwood star John Barrowman has joined the CW's DC show Arrow. The character he is portraying hasn't been named, but they're describing him as "Well-dressed man who is as mysterious as he is wealthy … he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City."

I caught this trailer last night and I like it so far, I am not really familiar with Green Arrow, but I liked what I saw. Also, as someone who hasn't seen smallville, I'm glad this will be a fresh show so I don't feel like I'm missing a huge backstory. ( To be fair, I really enjoyed Fraiser without ever having seen much of Cheers at all; maybe not a good analogy though )

Re: Green Arrow (CW)

So I'm watching the CW fist look, and there's this REALLY REALLY ATTRACTIVE blond guy cast as NuMcSteamy in the Greys Anatomy rip off which I will be so be watching since it ticks all the boxes, even though i know the female lead as a queen bitch, and now she's playing a mouse... But then Merideth Grey and Ally McBeal both started off as little mice and quickly turned into big C's... But the incredly sexy mcSteamy facsimile?

Justin Hartley.

So maybe they didn't shoot it all together, the actors arrived sporadically for diffferent call times across the expanse of a few days, but there's a fair chance that Justin, formerly Smallvilles Green Arrow, and the cast of "Arrow" totally got all Sharks vs. the Jets while some one was trying to diligently film The CW first look.

Arrow looks good.

Beauty and the Beast makes Arrow look like something by Oliver Stone.

I blame the Scarlet Pimpernel

In the comics it was a criminal who gave Green Arrow his name.

Re: Green Arrow (CW)

The Huntress is coming to Arrow

The CW’s upcoming superhero drama has cast Australian actress Jessica De Gouw (Underbelly) in a multi-episode arc as The Huntress — and a possible romantic interest for vigilante Oliver Queen.

Per EW.com, which first reported the news, this version of DC Comics’ Huntress goes by the alias Helena Bertinelli and is the daughter of a crime boss. Like Arrow, she’s out to right some wrongs, hellbent to avenge her family’s murder. Her quest to destroy her father’s empire will put her on a collision course with the Emerald Archer.

The Huntress will make her debut around Episode 6.

^Well thats sounds good but the showing is still lacking the main bad guy that will make it or break it. Without someone for Arrow to square off with, without a nemesis of great evil to go up against our hero will just be fighting goon of the week and that just wont cut it. Lets hope more is in store.

So Huntress is not specifically tied enough to the Batman Family to keep her embargoed out of the show?
I had though Bat related characters were off limits.
