Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Why are they calling this a reboot in the fourms there? It isn't a reboot. It's a re-branding and creative team shuffle. Trying to compare this to the New 52 is I think incorrect because they're not the same thing at all. This is more akin to Marvel's Ultimate Rebirth initiative with the Ulimate Universe than it is anything else. The Ultimate 'Verse was not rebooted after Ultimatium but rebranded under the Ultimate Comics label, given mostly new creative teams and continued onwards in the same continuity. This is the same for Marvel Now/ReEvolution. Perhaps some fans are confused because we're getting number ones again. LOL.

He makes some interesting comments about the sales. I do agree with him that Marvel should be performing better than DC right now. It would seem that I was incorrect in my prediction of last winter that Marvel would overtake DC in sales. DC has been going strong since the New 52 was launched last year.

As for "She-Thing," the articles actually refer to her as "Miss Thing" and call her a new character. This previous one you've mentioned must still be dead, then.

She-Thing is Sharon Ventura who also was briefly known as Ms.Marvel, she briefly replaced Carol Danvers(while she was Binary I think).
Looking over her wiki it seems I'm recalling her Skrull double being killed, however, Sharon herself was recovered alive.

The new character the article mentions is recommended by Johnny because I think he was with her the night before, or something like that. So this seems like a new character.

I was just trying to be helpful to PsychoPere since the wording of his post had me thinking he hadn't heard of the character She-Thing.
It wasn't my intent to sound like I was perhaps applying another interpretation to the new "She-Thing" mentioned in the CBR article. I agree it sounds like a new character cause she will be wearing "Thing armor" while the original She-Thing was mutated just like Ben.

The CBR article doesn't call the new character "She-Thing," though - it calls her, like the USA Today article did, "Miss Thing."

That FF #1 cover is just downright horrible. Not simply the costumes, as Admiral_Young commented on previously, but the entire thing is bad - the juxtaposition of the characters relative to one another and the background, for instance, is bizarre, and Miss Thing's appearance reminds me of badly done Photoshops of one person's head on another's body.

The cover is pretty cool, even I have to admit that. I just don't think that Bendis will be even decent on this book with the premise, given his previous inability to write these characters. I get the gimmick of having the team time travel from the past to react to stuff going on in the present, but I don't really understand how this is going to impact anything in the long run. I'm going to give this a chance, but it is going to be on very thin rope.

With regards to Remender on "Captain America". He hasn't disappointed me on anything I've read from him yet.

Bendis said "not everyone is walking out of AvX alive"... I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the young X-Men are replacing their dead older selves. That's the only way that they can have them sticking around in the current Marvel universe, otherwise it would just get kinda lame with "It's Cyclops... and Old Cyclops!" etc.

I very much doubt that. Bendis also said the purpose for the original team to be in the present was to react to what was going on with their older selves in the present day. I have no doubt that we're going to be in for a big death come the finale, but I very much doubt that they're replacing their older versions. Jean has no one to replace. She's going to be affected most IMO. I have often stated that Jean would be horrified with what's been going on lately with Scott and the others in general. I've no doubt that her younger version will feel the same.

This book would be a whole lot more interesting if someone other than Bendis was writing it. That really is what has put me off of it.

The X-Men cover is well drawn but I'm just not sold on bringing them forward in time. We all saw Back to the Future...you can't run into a future version of yourself or the timestream will implode.

The "Back to the Future" way of time travel doesn't work the same way in the Marvel Universe as we've seen countless times. Tony Stark being a prime example of this in the first arc of the "Avengers" relaunch where they went into the Ultron future. Also Bendis has stated that potential continuity problems and the encountering of their future selves will be addressed right off the bat (supposedly, we'll wait and see if this is actually the case).
