Wow. I love this thread.

I don't think I've ever seen such a literal example of judging a book by its cover.
All unknown books are judged by their covers, it's what makes you pick it up in the first place. Books are supposed to be judged by their covers, that's why publishers pay marketing departments.

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

Anyway, it wasn't just the cover, there was also the little blurb about a respected officer returning at ST.com.... (and besides it would be kind of goofy to put a character that was supposed to be done & gone, even if she's a "ghost," on the cover of a new book; strange IMHO even for Trek lit).

What's the date for the book's release?

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

It's not that I just I judge this by it's cover, since I can't see the cover any more through all the dumps disgruntled bbs board members have already taken on it. My impression of it is coloured and flavoured which is brown and hardly chocolate.

I'm sorry?

What book are we talking about?

Dumps? This cover is the object of all our hopes and dreams!

We love this cover! We yearn for the day it is in our hands!

Now Before Dishonor, that book is definitely thick with brown, but that's not the book we're talking about.

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

There is too much green in this cover, it looks like it's under water. Not the best of covers IMO, but hopefully what we see is what it is all about!

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

Chocolate fondoodoo. Yum.

So, I've seen the cover now.

(I have been avoiding the novels for years.)

She's a nebula.

Good for her!

I applaud you.

I honestly like the cover, the whole murky style looks nice to me, and it's got more...I don't know, spunk than some of the others have. And Janeway's face just looming on the cover there is great.

Will she return? We will find out on August 28.

Did you really just say that there's spunk on her face?

Really?

Really?

No, I did not. I said that the cover has more spunk. And by that I mean that I like the style more because there are additional details besides the ship against a space backdrop on this one.

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

The cover is 70 percent her face, so you can see how I would be confused by your vague use of the language.

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

You ordered 30 copies of this novel and plan to put one on the seat of every chair in your house?

I find it difficult to struggle through how disgusting some of you are, but I guess I'll just buckle down and reflect on the lighter side of life.

Re: Janeway returning to Trek Lit?

I am not buying even one e-book of this novel until I find out if Janeway returns in it. I am not buying even one e-book of ANY Treklit until they bring Janeway back for GOOD. IF this turns out to be Pocket Books laughing at the BBKJ fans with this cover then I will be visiting every book store left in my half of the city (I think there are two) and moving all the Treklit into the Young Adult section and sticking New Jedi Order paperbacks in the gap where the Treklit was.

However if she DOES return I won't be buying 30 copies either, I will be buying one and reading it while gestating Beyer's baby.
