Pardon my small ignorance regarding the English language, I do not come from America, but is “masculine feminists” in this sentence to imply something bad about people who expressed concerns before? It felt as if a negative connotation flippantly popped out of the sentence and tried to prick me in the eye, but I can't quite figure where it came from.

In your TV shows I've seen fictional characters use that feminist word in disparaging manner, and I've heard some of your TV and radio hosts use it to vilify victims of prejudice (if I recall correctly, one of them even posts here), but I assumed that it was all about imaginary people who were afraid that their wife might start thinking for herself?

Why should real people from the real world have any issue when someone wants fair treatment for all? Shouldn't all real people want to treat all other people as people, in other words, be feminists? Why should this even be a qualifier?

No reason we can't do both and more. I thought she looked like she could be Wonder Woman and thought I'd mention that. I would have an elevated sense of admiration (to say the least) for someone who has won the Nobel prize, and that would add to and supersede my appreciation of their looks, yes. Does beauty make other qualities that make someone attractive disappear or something? It's a thread in which you are discussing a person first and foremost, so yes, any noteworthy talent they have should be a part of it?

You didn't mention her skills as a soccer player at all. In fact, most posters haven't. Ignoring that list you copied and pasted from another site, you spent more time discussing her naked pics than her athleticism.

I'm not that familiar with her soccer career, so I don't have much to say about it. I'll have to leave those comments to others. I can contribute other things though, and that's what I'm doing.

I saw a news piece yesterday about the fact that a lot of sex goes on at these games and that an estimated 150,000 condoms are being provided to the athletes. I wondered if Hope had anything to say about the issue and found the following...

I was merely commenting on the irony of TheGodBen's statement that we shouldn't judge a woman by her looks in a thread filled with her pictures. It certainly does not exclude discussing her abilities and talents. I have never heard of Hope Solo before reading this thread so I can only defer comments on her abilities to other people who are more familiar with her achievements in sports and other arenas.

I do not come from America, so probably my knowledge of the language is imperfect, but I was too wondering what does exactly "masculine feminist" mean. A man who supports equality? An independent woman? A butch lesbian? It's really confusing.
