Hope Solo: Babe of the week #31 (July 2012)

Hope Solo
(American soccer goalkeeper, two-time Parade All-American, 2008 Olympic gold medalist)
Thumbs up= Thumbs down= Thumbs sideways=

Hope Solo was born in Richland, Washington, and was taught how to play soccer by her father. As a forward at Richland High School, Solo scored 109 goals, leading her team to three consecutive league titles from 1996-1998, including a state championship her senior year. At the University of Washington, she switched to goalkeeper and became the team's all-time leader in shutouts, saves and goals-against average, being named a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and three-time NSCAA All-American. In 2008, she helped lead the U.S. team to the gold medal in Beijing.
Soccer kicks off the London 2012 Olympic Games. Spread across six major grounds around the UK, it offers all the drama that fans of the game have come to expect from major international tournaments. It was introduced as a medal sport at the Paris 1900 Olympic Games. Great Britain won the men’s gold medal, then successfully defended their title four years later in Stockholm. The sport has featured at every Olympic Games since, except for Los Angeles 1932. The first women’s competition was at Atlanta 1996. At London 2012, both the men’s and women’s soccer competitions begin with a preliminary stage: the 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams are divided into groups of four teams (four groups in the men’s and three groups in the women’s competition), and each team plays every other in their group. Teams receive three points for a win, one point for a draw and nothing for a loss.

Thumbs Up. Cute tomboy with a great smile. And, judging by the video, very easygoing.

And if they put her in a Star Wars movie, she wouldn't have to change her name.

In my estimation of feminine pulchritude, there can be such a thing as having too hard a hard body. I prefer women who are a little softer than the estimable Ms. Solo, particularly in their facial features. Great athlete, certainly a local hero here in the Emerald City, but doesn't give me that certain zing. Sideways.

Great main pic, and a great first sight upon clicking on the thread. Has she been suggested for Wonder Woman yet?

^ I know. I was half joking. She almost has the right look in that main pic and in some of her shots, so that came to mind.

Can't say I've ever seen a male footballer and thought that he'd make a good Superman.

OJ made the transition from a (different kind of) football to acting. Granted, things went a little off the rails thereafter, but...
