'The Prophecy' looks to be a fun crossover story that has a lot of Dynamite's different titles. I liked Ron Marz's work on Red Sonja and other stories, so I am looking forward to this storyline. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/vamp...-prophecy.html

I picked up a copy of the centenary edition of Howard's Conan stories, from my library 50c. Good deal.

Just finished The Land that Time Forgot and The People that Time Forgot. Not sure whether or not to read Out of Time's Abyss, but I suppose I probably will; I just hope there's a large payoff, and not just another random Caspak story.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but you'll find graphic novel adaptations of "At The Mountains Of Madness" and "A Princess Of Mars" as well as other classics here:

http://strangeplanetstories.blogspot.com/

I've seen both at the local Barnes and Nobles, and have flipped through them. I will take this version of Mars over the IDW stuff any day. It appears to be the most faithful version so far, and looks closer to what would've been done then, what with Dejah Thoris looking somewhat Egyptian. And yes, she's naked throughout the book. The art style is simple, but elegant.

"At The Mountains Of Madness" has a somewhat cartoon like quality, yet it too is of the simple and elegant kind. And like "A Princess Of Mars", it is very faithful to the source material.

It looks like they all have the same artist, which is amazing given the differences in style between just these two books....I'm amazed at how this person was able to churn out several graphic novels, but there it is.

At any rate, I plan on picking these two up in the near future.

Win. Peter Jackson circa pre-production on King Kong, take note. That woman's nightie wouldn't last five minutes in the jungle.

No, it's a solid trade paperback that looks well read but not reduced to rubbish. Someone has also put a heavy duty plastic strip along the spine to protect it.

I've picked up a couple of good deals from the library, hardback and softback.

Library sales are great places to shop for books. I found an old hardback of Ignatius Donnelly's 'Atlantis: The Antediluvian World' at one when I was in high school. I thought it was so cool having a book over a century old. He got me started on my love of summer crackpot reading.

Well, I did go ahead and read "Out of Time's Abyss", and am jolly glad I did - the freaky-as-hell Wieroos, while set up in "The People That Time Forgot", made the story very unlike the other two, and the overall ending was pretty great also. These were my first Burroughs books, and I suspect there'll be more.

Just started reading second Lovecraft collection. That's some real baroque weirdness, and quite heavy-going, but perversely satisfying. Must get round to watching the Re-Animator and From Beyond movies at some point when I finish but I imagine they're disappointing in comparison. Only films I've seen that come close to Lovecraft spirit/atmosphere are Carpenter's In The Mouth of Madness and especially Cigarette Burns. Also reminds me for some reason of classic Night of The Demon.
