Re: Smallville Season 11, it"s happening...

We don't know when Batman will appear now thanks to the DC Editorial hijinks. As for Miller having Chloe acknowledge Batman, I don't see why not. There have already been continuity links to the show this season and follow up story lines. This is one of the things I expect to see in the issue, whenever "Detective" appears.

So 'Detective' is the name of the second storyline?

No that's the name of the issue that Bruce and Babs are appearing it. We do when it will be coming out in print, thanks to the September Solicits. It was supposed to be included with "Smallville" #5. Digitally we have no idea now. "Guardian" has I believe wrapped now.

I'm confused then. If Guardian is pretty much wrapped up, what's next? Or that information hasn't been released yet?

I've stated many times before in the thread that we could get Diana and maybe even Hal. We know Alan exists thanks to the Justice Society two parter. I also theorized we could even get a slow build up to a |Smallville Justice League story. See them progress from the proto-League into a full fledged League.
If the series does continue, I wouldn't be surprised if they did do a Justice League story. When they announced the JL in the third Arkham game they said it was part of a new attempt to raise the public awareness of the team, and building on a already established version of the team, like the Smallville one seems like a great way to do that.

The Justice League game is not "a third Akrham" game. It's just a Justice League game being developed by Rocksteady, but yeah I get what you're saying. Right now the proto-League has been operating in secret and off the grid. I foresee if Miller does include the League that we'll see an evolution of it into the League we all know and love. I don't see this happening for quite some time though, and most likely not this season. It's been pretty clear so far that Miller intends on the Cyborg Superman story being the main story of the season.

I guess it would be the Arkham prequel then?

I just remembered something about the SV JL that I never understood. Was there a specific reason why they only ever called Bart Impulse, and never The Flash? I was looking at his comic bio and I see that he was appeared to have a fairly short career as The Flash, but he was as far as I know the only Flash in SV, so I would think it would make more sense to call him that, especially since it is much more recognizable than Impulse.

I think David Goyer was preparing a Flash movie starring Ryan Reynolds at that time so DC put an embargo on the name. Of course Goyer's movie fell through so there's no reason not to rename him Flash.

Does DC put an embargo on everything?

Re: Smallville Season 11, it"s happening...

The "Bart" thing was something that someone online correctly countered DiDio's lame statement that "Smallville" should only have iconic characters in it. That has never been the case before in the series, and shouldn't be the case now. Miller should have access to every single character he wants to use in the DC pantheon without being dicked around by editorial because they only want to shoehorn and "showcase" characters they want to promote. They did the exact same thing with the series: thus why we got episodes involving Cyborg, Aquaman (Arthur possibly being one of two iconic characters along with Oliver of course), Mera, and "Bart" Allen, oh and I forgot Mia Deardren (even though I was excited to see this version of the character) over Roy Harper. Ollie Queen was basically their abandoned and tweaked plans for Bruce Wayne.

It's possible Goyer's "Flash" movie was the true reason...but no one really knows why we got Bart instead of Barry. At the time many of us theorized that it was a younger time traveling Barry Allen who used his name as Bart.

But Bart is still Smallville's version of The Flash, correct? You don't think that they're going to try to introduce a different version at this point, do you? I would think that if Miller basically has the freedom to pick and choose his material and/or characters, then we could see Bart change his name to 'Flash' inasmuch as Clark went from being the Blur to Superman.

Just my .02 worth.
