I'm sorry, I really can't arrange that, even for the end of the world.

I was thinking about Tautou the other day... and how its interesting that Marion Cotillard has sort of broken into Hollywood films but Tautou hasn't. Maybe it's Tautou choice, but a part of me wonders if its about accent, whether she can make her accent "clear" enough for American audiences.

Personally I hope it's choice. I think Tautou is a very good actor and I would hate something as silly as accent get in her way here.
Sounds like it's her choice. I found the following quotes...

"I wouldn't mind being in an American film for a laugh, but I certainly don't want to be in Thingy Blah Blah 3, if you know what I mean."

"Hollywood doesn't need me. After 'Amélie,' I didn't get any offers that interested me. I have very eclectic tastes, but it's important for me that a movie be sensitive, clever and subtle." - IMDb
And she talks more about her career and choices in this article. Here's an excerpt...

Tautou says she can still recall the peculiar feeling of being part of The Da Vinci Code’s "big, big machine". She'll never forget her first taste of the kind of giddy power that only a starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster can lend an actress; nor how queasy it made her feel. "I didn’t want to have this power,” she says, with a shrug. "I would rather have freedom; and to find that you have to stop being in big, exposed movies. I don't surf on the big waves. When I see them coming, I take my board and go straight back to the beach."

Good for her. I respect that. She's great. Check out I Love You, I Love You Not (not sure what the French title is) it's great and you really want to stay away from spoilers.

No wonder Audrey Tautou hasn't hit it big in Hollywood. If she wants "sensitive, clear and subtle," she's not gonna find it there!

Wouldn't mind Thingy Blah Blah 3 making it to theaters though.

Hmmm, close, but she just has that weird Liechtensteinian look I can't stand.
Did you make that up to show how clever and knowledgeable you are?

Liechtensteinian...I have no idea what it means (beyond the literal reference) but I like it!

Still waiting for the preview for Thingy Blah Blah 3.

With her acting talent she may even be able to make it better than Thingy Blah Blah and Thingy Blah Blah 2: The Thingening

It'll never be as good as Thingy Blah Blah 1. Sequels never are.

I wonder why MLB just deleted that post about how she could've gotten a role in The Fifth Element back in the 90s. Because "there seemed to be a lot of French actors in it".

Maybe he googled and found out that... you know... it was actually a French movie?

Sorry, MLB.

Sorry, MLB.
Mea culpa.

I knew that it was *directed* by a Frenchman but I actually thought it was filmed in England...silly me

I admit I did wonder how many muggers with French accents ("GIMME THE CASH!!!") New York City would be likely to have.

No, it can't be. Have you seen Milla Jovovich? Her face is clearly communist, not socialist. Not French.
