Marion Cotillard: Babe of the week #30 (July 2012)

Marion Cotillard
(The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Public Enemies)
Thumbs up= Thumbs down= Thumbs sideways=

Born in Paris, France, and raised in a household of actors, teachers, artists and entertainers, Marion Cotillard decided to become an actress at an early age. At 16, she moved to Paris to pursue her dream and by 2001, she had won France's prestigious Cesar Award for her performance as twins Lucie and Marie in Les Jolie Choses. Cotillard made her Hollywood debut in Tim Burton's 2003 fantasy Big Fish. But it was her performance as fallen French singer Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose that made international audiences take notice. Her uncanny transformation into Piaf earned her an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Actress.
The Dark Knight Rises: It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

I'm not familiar with her, but she's got a nice, mature look; she also seems pretty tall, judging by that clip. I'll give her a Thumbs Up.

Thumbs up. She's a great actress, very talented. Loved her in "Midnight in Paris".

Also: She's French so she wins.

Hollywood must be socialist, too. They all have the same noses at least.

I'm just waiting for a crazy Republican to chime in and claim that Obamacare promotes socialist faces for everybody.

Do I have a socialist face? Or do I have too many generations of American ancestry?

That red dress she's wearing in one of the photos... I think I want that. I love dresses, I have way too many already but meh... always room for one more.

Sadly I'm not as good an actress. I thought she was sooo awesome and creepy in Inception. And of course very charming in Midnight in Paris. Sadly I still haven't seen La vie en rose.

I suppose it's worth it?

You're an honorary European. We'll put up with your Capitalist face because your heart is so pure.

I thought her performance in Inception was one of the best of the whole film, despite being a smaller role compared to the others. I mainly remember the haunted look she had in that film.
