Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

I was hoping they'd keep Morrison's scarred Joker around...but looks like they're changing his look yet again. I'm still excited to see what they do with him and what this "game changer" is supposed to be during this arc. The title of the arc obviously is a bit ominous.

I just tune out the word "game-changer" now. I hear it in my head as "hamster."

It does seem to be the latest catch phrase describing major change doesn't it?

Well, that's a relief. They've been trying to make the Joker work as a character for decades with no success. I'm sure a new look will help! Is that lipstick he's putting on? Ooooo, metasexual - watch out, Heartland!
If I didn't know better, I'd say it was a way to capitalize (albeit, 4 years later) on The Dark Knight Joker, which seemed to veer from the "skin bleached white by chemical" look for a "guy wearing a lot of white make-up" look.

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

^ That's pretty much what I felt it was...at least the Morrison Joker. IIRC. The Dollmaker cuts the Joker's face off at the end of Detective Comics #1 and thus we have waited almost an entire year to see the consequences of that action. I'm assuming that is what Capullo means with his warning, they're going to be following up on that.

Pulls for today:

-Before Watchmen Silk Spectre #2
-Wonder Woman #11

Quick question about the Justice League book: is it still in the past? Did we jump forward? I don't remember.

Yeah, I was just about to say. The group feels/sounds exactly like they did five years previously. Dynamics change over time... but... here... couldn't tell the difference. That's why I had to ask, I honestly wasn't sure.

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

^ Probably because Geoff Johns continues to write them the same way he did in the opening arc.

Wonder Woman #11: This continues to be just awesome. Honestly this is moving into my number two spot over "Batman" on my favorite of the New 52 books. Just the writing and usage of the Greek Gods alone makes this book awesome. Plus I really do love the Cliff Chiang art work. Say what you will about him, but I believe he really is key to this book and it wouldn't be as enjoyable if another artist was on it.

Anyone else think the Joker "Death of a Family" arc is about the be delayed, given events in Aurora?

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

Oh, I thought it was the next big arc after Owls. Still, I can't seem much publicity being bandied about right now. I could see certain sections of the media still running with the idea of DC doing a nastier Joker story only a few months after Aurora.

Before anyone tells me it was already planned, yes, I know. But Bane is from the 90s and Rush Limbagh still thinks it's an attack on Romney, so ...

It is the next big arc after the Owls but it doesn't start until issue #13 which comes out in October. We have issue #12 next month, then the zero month issue in September.
