The $270 Million Budget definitely sounds like Horse Hockey. At this point, Green Lantern is the only Box Office, and with it's performance, there's no way they would approve a $270 Million budget. Maybe after Man of Steel opens (if it does well) and a Batman Reboot looks promising, they might risk $200 Million, but, no way, IMHO, with only Green Lantern's performance being known.

I think the trick is to make it J'onn's story while having him collect the group in the second act and allotting each five minutes or so of "origin" expo.

One of the advantages DC has over any of the Marvel properties is the heroes (at least the base group) are pretty much ubiquitously recognizable. The one exception is probably MM. Which is I why I think you tell the story from his perspective. Use the first film to help familiarize the audience with him.

Actually, I think it's actually better this way. The characters' respective universes are much more diverse than the Marvel heroes'. This way you can keep everyone grounded in one central world without having to be tied down to the others.

You could sill used Cavill and Reynolds (heck, even Bale if he was up to it), but only acknowledge their own worlds/films with winks and nods.

Just keep saying that he's there, and why is he always sticking to the shadows, or "he was a minute a go."

Hell, they could even have Adam West off camera, smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee, just enough to put his name in the credits for an unseen, unheard Batman.

One of the reasons why Avengers works so well is the five year build up, and the fact that Marvel got A list actors and directors all the way through. By the time Avengers rolled around we were invested in the characters and their stories. It really gave a comic book feel to the movie where you have the individual characters in their own titles now coming together.

If DC wants to repeat the success, they need to make the investment.

They can't make a movie like Justice League that would be competitive these days for 200 million dollars. They'll either decide that it's worth risking up to 250 million, or they won't green-light it at all.

Grant Morrison's JLA was dark and mature, plus fun and humorous at times too. Why do people freak out now when they read those words? Plus Millar talks a lot too.
