Yes, obviously. It's just a disconnect between what is proposed and what is actual. And this is a bit less just details in how a character looks and actually is a pretty massive difference and what the character actually is. Action Comics #10: Remember that Clark bonds to the armor whenever he needs it now. He still wears the t-shirt and jeans. I really enjoyed this issue. I like the fact that Lois, Jimmy, and Clark are friends. Lana!!! I trust that Morrison is setting up more back story stuff so we can learn about what happened to Clark and Lana before. Interesting that he would attempt a version of The Death of Clark Kent so early on.

I'm still curious what an invulnerable man needs with armor. I guess it's so he's not naked in a fight with Darkseid?

That would probably help, yeah. Plus, at least at the time he initially acquires it he's not invulnerable - Clark still explains injuries that he receives as Superman as being the result of being beat up by goons who are trying to intimidate him as a reporter.

Yeah... forgot that... Maybe if it wasn't called armor, then maybe it wouldn't be so weird to me. Armor is something Batman needs.

Though it's also weird to me, he's still wearing the t-shirt in Metropolis, and then he puts it on to go meet the League, and then takes it off?

All of that makes him seem a little more real as a personality, I think.

The writing on Superman has improved only marginally with the new creative team - the narration is still clunky and unnatural most of the time - but I'm still enjoying Clark and his coworkers/friends a good deal more than in pre-DC52 versions.

I'll give 'em a read tomorrow. Liked the cover for "Action." I still think there's a massive disconnect between the cover art and the in-book art for "Dial H." Like I said for #1 on the cover our main character looks like your average, pudgy, Joe American. In the book itself he's much more obese, much less... "attractive" in facial features and, well, less "average" looking.

I thought the guy in HERO was English.

Not seeing it really. Just looks like different artist's take on the same character. No different than if Kelly Jones drew a Batman cover and Darwin Cooke drew the interiors.

Really like Earth 2 #2. Robinson has structured the introduction of the future JSA in a layered storyline like Johns did in Justice League, but its working a lot better here. In this issue the focus is on the Flash but we also meet two "Mr Terrifics" and a Hawkgirl as well as following Alan Scott to his destiny. ( which we'll see more of in #3) If the pattern follows we'll see a bit more of Hawkgirl in the GL issue and probably meet another future JSAer.

The E2 Terry Sloan seems to be quite a piece of work. His face is slightly scarred ( never a good sign) and I'm getting and Adrian Veidt vibe from him.

@Professor Zoom...I guess you missed my post, but Clark's armored suit bonds to him whenever he needs it (at least that is my understanding of it). He still wears the shirt and jeans as his costume. It's also possible that it he wears it in the League. I haven't been reading "Superman" since I dropped it so I don't know.

I have to say that I find the whole concept a little weird and as I posted a while ago when it debuted...it reminds me of the idea JJ had for his suit in Superman: Flyby.

Bonds to him whenever he needs it? What does that mean? He didn't need it when he burst into the guys apartment, but needed it when he was chatting the the League? This is in Action #10. I'm just trying to understand the logic of when Supes chooses to wear the suit and when he wears the t-shirt.

It's not been made clear how exactly the suit works yet. We just saw in the finale to the opening arc as Clark bonded with it before he went out and fought Terminus (or whatever one wants to call Brainiac). We saw it as you state, when he was chatting with the League, and we saw him wearing his regular costume. I'm trying to understand it with you and just suggesting theories. I've no clue.

Anyone think that Superman might have limited shape-shifting abilities? ( As he did briefly in the Golden Age). Clark looks a little different than Superman. Especially when Rags draws them.

I don't think so. I just think Rags draws Clark really differently than Superman. To me Clark looks like a "disheveled nerd" (for lack of a better descriptive term). Morrison probably instructed him to really distinguish between the two characters this time. I liked Lois asking Clark why they haven't seen much of him lately. Heh.

On the suit:

Right now Clark/Superman might be trying to wear whatever costume works best for the situation. To the public at large he's mostly known as, well, I'll go with the "Red-Blue Blur" in the proto-costume of the shirt and jeans. So when he's breaking into some tenement in the slums, yeah, he'll wear the rougher costume it better fits the situation. But when he meats with The League in the sewer? Well this is the time to put on your business suit and look serious.

I read Action last night, work and other things have precluded me from reading the other books, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was probably one of the better Action books up to this point, look forward to where this goes from here.
