The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon cancelled

Avengers 15, 16 and 17 just appeared online.

That's 7 episodes in 4 days.

At this rate the season is going to be over next week.

Are we certain that marvel is going to make all 26 episodes?

Too bad. You know, while Marvel has had better luck with their movies this past decade, DC's always has had the better animated installments. EMH was one of only two Marvel cartoons I consider to be equal to the DC cartoons, the other one being Spectacular Spider-Man. So, if Marvel's doing a cartoon I really enjoy, they cancel it after two seasons, is that the new rule?! Well, while the cancellation of SSM opened the door for Greg Weisman to defect to DC/WB and the making of Young Justice, it remains to be seen what the future will bring us in regards of the creative team behind EMH. Well, if we're lucky, they'll stay on for the new Avengers show, hopefully making that one as enjoyable as EMH.

They're going to air another 5 episodes by the 22nd of this month.

There have been at least 2 attempts to make a Spider-man cartoon since the Raimi movies, but neither lasted long.

Spectacular Spider-Man was extremely well-done and well-received by the audience, as was Wolverine & the X-Men, but neither was being aired on Disney so they got axed in favor of non-collaborative projects that Disney could own top to bottom.

Wolverine & the X-Men was very well done, and was in active development for S2 when Marvel got sold and Disney only pulled the plug so they wouldn't have to share revenues with Nickelodeon.

Which was the whole point of WATXM...Wolverine WAS out of his depth. That was the point, to see how he could reach down and find it within himself to pull his team through.

A shame, but the writing was on the wall. At least it got 52 episodes and was good unlike that Saban abortion from the 90's, the one were everyone had an armored power-up, Hawkeye was made a Wolverine-style jerk and no major characters were part of the regular cast*. They even copied Saban's X-Men by "killing off" a team member (Wonder Man) in the first episode.

*I mean the big shots: Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America. If you think Scarlett Witch, Ant-Man, Tygra and Falcon are major characters, then good for you.

Hey, where is Tygra? Underappreciated Avenger. Add her to the next movie...get the furry audience.

The syndication package doesn't accrue much extra value beyond 65 episodes. Plus, it's very difficult to actually turn a profit from animated series directly these days, so the toy companies are more in control now than ever before (and they've been in the driver's seat for a long time), and they make more money from bringing out new lines of toys based on new shows or rebranded shows rather than continuing existing lines based on a single long-running show.

Damn. I was really hoping this was one of those crap internet rumors that always end up being false.
I've only seen the first episode of S2 so far, but I absolutely loved the first season, and I am eagerly awaiting two's arrival on Netflix's streaming service.

I dug the first season, with some reservation. Haven't seen any of the second yet, but looking forward to it. Sad to hear there won't be a third.
