Here's the wikipedia entry for Extremis which gives a good overview of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremis_(comics)

Extremis is basically a nanotech formula. The first film used the revised origin story Ellis introduced in this arc as well. During the Secret Invasion story...Tony shut down his brain to prevent Norman from accessing the Superhuman Registration Act database which contained all the registered heroes identities...but I digress. It's all in the article.

Re: Iron Man 3 Discussion/Photos/ETC.

Unofficial confirmation that Mandarin is indeed playing a part in the film? I mean it is comicbookmovie.com so....
...The site also claims that a source "involved with the production" reassured them that The Mandarin is "definitely" the villain. He said Mandarin had a set of twins that did most of his dirty work for him. Another source who had visited EUE/Screen Gems Studios told us that the sets they were building included Chinese storefronts."
I believe we all would want Mandarin. It's Iron Man's Green Goblin, his Joker so to not have the character appear during IM's big coming out trilogy would seem a crime.

I'm guessing, if true, they are saving the official announcement for a big event. Say July Comic Con or NY Comic Con to parade out RDJ and Kingsley then show some footage.

there's rumours on SHH that the Iron Patriot armour will appear, but no word on who wears it.

No, just vaguely familiar with what happens in it. Doesn't the suit become something he can willfully activate and it like comes out of bones or something rather than being, well, a suit? I think that sort of diminishes the "every day man becoming a hero" thing.
Extremis pushed the "iron man and stark are one" idea even further

The nano bots emerge from inside his bones to form the undersheath

Stark then wills the ironman parts to his body

^ And I'm guessing that was drawn when Tom Cruise was linked to the role!

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it won't be Norman Osborn in the suit.

Well, your bones are somewhat porous but with pretty good reason since the stuff inside of them (bone marrow) is sort of needed.

Not unless they want to get into a legal fight with Sony for the film rights.
