Re: VRML TOS Enterprise
Been a while - a couple of years give-or-take. I've recently, once again, picked up the Life-sized Enterprise model in Virtual Reality Modeling Language - VRML. I've been working on one piece in particular, the "stand-by power unit" from engineering. Have a look at what I've come up with from a collage of set pics: ![]() Please - any comments on dimensions, colour, shape etc would help!

Re: VRML TOS Enterprise
![]() I know I have yet to add the greeblies - little bits on the units - but I'm going for "big-picture" issues first... What do you think?

Re: VRML TOS Enterprise
Would you like a copy of the VRML file? You could take a look at it in 3D... Stephen

Re: VRML TOS Enterprise
I've used FJ's blueprints for the ship, but small components such as this unit aren't pictured in detail. Yes, I know about the top being open - saw in "Court Martial" episode, just how they can be lit from above. I pulled many stills off the episodes and found one pic of the desktop model of the original TV soundstage, where the top of this unit is visible - seems to be the right shape - maybe the hole at the top is alittle smaller than it should be... can you find the desktop model of the soundstage and tell me what you think? Thanks in advance!

Re: VRML TOS Enterprise
I like VRML because I wrote some software to build parametric models in VRML... parametric in that I change one parameter and all the rest of the components adapt to the change - not just the component who's dimension I change. I use Visual Basic for programming, an MS Access database to store many of the parameters, and the program spits out VRML files, ready for viewing. I really like VRML because you can walk around inside the models. Even take a turbolift ride. I've rigged the bridge to display many of the original displays and they change over time. There's lots of animation on my ship! Ya - VRML is pretty cool.
