^ What's a "CBM"? A comic book movie? They were big summer movie frenzies long before now.

Hulk was amazing in this movie. It was because of all the funny scenes with the character that was lacking in the previous two Hulk movies.

Whedon just GETS all the characters. I really hope he will be back as director and writer if we get an Avengers 2.
Avengers 2 isn't a matter of an "if." It's a "WILL" considering Avengers made a billion dollars in one week.
It took more than one week to make a billion dollars.
That's right it opened a week earlier in Europe and Australia.

So, two weeks. Still pretty damn impressive.

More to the point, Disney already announced that they're making a sequel. Not that it was unlikely it would happen after the box office receipts started coming in.

The Avengers dethrones The Dark Knight as the highest grossing super-hero movie of all time! It's become the 11th highest grossing movie of all time in less than a month!

The art of dealing in Hollywood can be quite lucrative if the right factors come together. Just ask Robert Downey Jr and why when news came last week of his one day replacement were met by him saying, "not too soon though I hope"(paraphrase).
According to multiple knowledgeable sources, Iron Man/Tony Stark is set for a highflying payday of about $50 million once box-office bonuses and backend compensation are factored in. (Two sources claim the number could go higher than $50 million once the ultimate box-office haul of Avengers is known, but another cautions that it could be years before the final number is known.) While on par with the upper echelon of franchise movie stars, that number blows away his superhero co-stars, all of whom will make a small fraction of Downey’s total...

Wait, what?

Since RDJ is the actor most entrenched it also means his deal is the closest one to up. Which means if deals can't be made then recasting happens and this link is reporting RDJ's response to what Kevin Feige said they'd likely do when a recast inevitably happens.
...At CinemaCon last week, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige mentioned to Badass Digest that when it came time for Downey to leave the role of Tony Stark behind, a new actor could pick up right where he left off, like in the James Bond films. ....But Downey told MTV News on the red carpet that he wasn't so thrilled about the idea of someone else playing Tony Stark. "I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes," he said.

Really, I don't think anyone else but RDJ could pull off the MCU Tony Stark.

Yeah, it's mostly his personal charisma that made the Iron Man movies work. He'll be tough to replace.

He is Tony Stark. It's the role his entire life has prepared him for.

Heh. Very true. Only with a lot less alcohol and a lot more coke and heroin.

I do want RDJ to stick around for a few more movies, but when the time does come to replace him (and the others), I hope Marvel doesn't reboot everything from scratch. Just recast the roles and keep going.

And alot less genius and billionaire status.

When RDJ hide away in his house and comes out with a silver titanium alloy robotic suit THEN we can say he is Tony Stark
