If you have any desire to have the Lost In Space center console moire graphic pattern, I have a loop of it. Go to this video (link) and jump to 7:45 to see the pattern.
That would be great! I could totally use that!

Is 7 inches the diameter of the circle?

That's awesome! We can totally use that!

Sorry -- my mistake -- the hole actually has a 6 inch diameter. We do want to have a little bit of bleed around the hole, though so if it's not exactly aligned it won't be too noticeable. I guess the "live area" for the animation should be about 5.75 inches and the bleed for the black background should be about 6.5 inches.

That's cool. I'll work on a few tonight. I couldn't open the IA files you sent as I don't have illustrator.

Would it not be simpler to add the displays with green screen afterwards?

What class of ship is it? I could add a graphic around that. Maybe "quog"ify it to go with the puppet style. Or just normal if you so want.

These are great! Is there another format you can import from? Technically, this isn;t a Star Trek film, so it's not really a Starfleet class... It's basically a cobbled-together ship that looks like a giant metal Mallard duck.

Here they are as a PDF, so at least you can see what they look like:

Re: Trek TOS movie Bridge Displays

Oh -- and the reason I'm not adding them later in post is because pretty much nothing in this film will be added in post. The only two greenscreen elements will be the main viewscreen and the spacehips -- which will be models.

We're going pretty old school on this project.

Re: Trek TOS movie Bridge Displays

One of the cool things about puppetry is that you can do these crazy fantastic stories -- almost like you can do in animation -- but in real time. I think in a way, if we do a lot of post production, it'll take that "realism" out of the finished project. And, considering every character in the film is an 18-inch tall puppet, we need to keep all the realism we can get!

In-camera also means your post production is potentially much less of a bottleneck.

Re: Trek TOS movie Bridge Displays

Most of our post production will be spent doing the sound, actually. That's one of the perks/drawbacks of puppets, too -- you can have different puppeteers work the puppets throughout the production -- but everything has to be dubbed later. On the plus side, lip synch is a lot easier, though.

Re: Trek TOS movie Bridge Displays

I was trying to export the flash files to avi- it won't let me do flv format. But there are plenty of free flv converters. If u have illustrator u can convert the image to an swf which I can edit in flash. I could do some screens of the ship if u wish
