Who here would likea Section 31 game by Bioware or some other company?

I would love it, Section 31 would really play into Bioware's strenghts. It could be a real Dark and edgy story about something that wasn't overused on the big screen. What i am unsure about is in which universe would i want it, the Abramverse or the other one.

I'd rather see a Starfleet Intelligence story. Maybe have Section 31 be the evil conspiracy within the Federation whose plan the heroic, Jack Ryan-esque Starfleet Intelligence agent has to stop.

I want a more Mass Effecty game where a Starfleet Captain or other officer in the captain role gets a rag tag crew together.

Lol MORE Mass Effect-y than the new Star Trek title!??? That has been the one criticism of the new game from people who don't know anything other than the early trailers. TOO MUCH LIKE MASS EFFECT.... so ENJOY!

Depends what you think makes a game 'as good' as Mass Effect? Many say that the 25th Anniversary and Judgement Rights games were great Trek titles. Couple that with Mass Effect style movemement and graphics and you would have a great Trek game, BETTER than Mass Effect.

You misunderstood what I said, btw, the new 2013 game has already been compared to Mass Effect, so enjoy it when it comes out, sounds just like what we are hoping for.

Mass Effect had character development and writing that put those games both to shame. That, and the capability for the player to influence the morality and ethics of the storyline, which plays right into Star Trek's humanistic themes.

Really the comparison to Mass Effect has been derived from the art direction and the third person gameplay mechanics... the latter being far less important than the point I've outlined above. From the sound of the new Trek game it seems to be far more linear and structured and straightforward than Mass Effect, sharing little in common besides having 3rd person cover shooting.

People often misunderstand when the sentiment "I want a Star Trek version of Mass Effect" is made, they typically don't care about the 3rd person shootery stuff, and are rather thinking of the storytelling, character development, and player choice. Those are the elements that made me, playing Mass Effect, feel like I was getting the ultimate scifi wish fulfillment.

That being said, Bioware wouldn't need to resort to paltry tricks like putting Section 31 in to make a Trek game interesting. Knights of The Old Republic - the game that made me pine for a proper Trek RPG, proved that licensed games can kick the butt off of their source material.
