Aquaman #3 to #7: I caught up on the last five issues in one sitting and I must say... This is a phenomenally written title. I find it to be a cut above your average comic book. It deconstructs the superhero genre with a good balance between absurdity and seriousness, and it has some actual story and substance behind the usual clichéd action. It also acknowleges the fact that Aquaman isn't the big time iconic hero that someone like Superman is and plays that up. This is the way you humanize characters. Mera's pretty hot too. And I loved that dog. Can't forget the dog. You know the writing is good when they can make one page worth of dog more memorable than the full run of most other titles.
Weird fun fact: this is written by the same guy who is "writing" Justice League. Or at least two writers who share the same name, but not the same talent.

SNAP!

I think JLA probably has Jim Lee as a silent ghost writer.

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

It's Jim lee.

the book was probably being written to accommodate for more art.

At least it's not the old Marvel method where the writer would hand over a plot, the artist would draw the comic with blank speech bubbles and then the writer would fill in the bubbles.

Although I recall Bendis at a con saying, "I love Mark Bagley, I totally love him, it's not that I want to write less, it's that I want to see him draw."

Symbiote vs parasite.

Either you have eidtors screaming, or the writer artist team find thier own natural equilibrium.

Zauriel. Ahhhh Grant Morrison's JLA was awesome.
Yes it was.

I wonder if DC might consider doing a multi film version of it as one of their animated projects at some point.

Maybe he should speak up more... like, "Hey Geoff, don't you think this sucks?"

Or is Lee like a negative writer and removes talent?

The latter.

Remember he was doing the SAME EXACT THING in the X-Men during the 90s when Harras was in charge.

Wasn't it confirmed last summer that Lee and Johns were both co-plotting Justice League?

Re: DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

It's been a few years now since I've read any comics and I'm a little curious to try out some of the "rebooted" titles in this New 52 universe. I know The Lensman just asked for some recommendations not long ago and I'm not all that interested in looking through 3984 posts, but I did do some quick searches and came up with the following list of titles that have been recommended:
  • Action Comics
  • Aquaman
  • Batman (main title by Scott Snyder)
  • Batwing
  • Batwoman
  • Flash
  • Wonder Woman
Are there any other titles that current readers would suggest checking out?

Edited to add: The remainder of this post will be edited to include recommendations from below for as long as I am able to edit the post. I hope this will provide an easy-to-reference starting point list for future posters seeking recommendations.
  • All Star Western
  • Animal Man
  • Batgirl
  • Batman and Robin
  • Captain Atom
  • Demon Knights
  • Frankenstein
  • Green Lantern: New Guardians
  • I... Vampire
  • Justice League Dark
  • Swamp Thing

Pere, you might want to check out All star Western and Demon Knights, both pretty decent.

I, Vampire I believe has been critically acclaimed by those reading it in the thread. As is Scott Snyder's Swamp Thing.

I can second All Star Western, I, Vampire, and Demon Knights: all very fun. Frankenstein has been an unexpected treat, and Justice League Dark is much better than the title would lead you to expect.
