Re: WIP Enterprise Protostar

Out of curiosity, does the singularity have to "see" ahead of the saucer for the drive to work?

(Sort of similar to those supposed/often-debated "starship design rules" with respect to the nacelles needing to see each other.)

Overall -- I like it, although I think the curved wing/pylon area needs to be broader/have a bit more beam to it. The whole design "feels" too narrow and thus unbalanced, IMO.

(Not that would mean anything in outer space, but still... this is art we're talking here.)

Cheers,
-CM-

Re: WIP Enterprise Protostar

To answer you CM, no. The singularity creates a wormhole in front of the ship with the helps of the shields, because it rotates in a certain way. It is a central unique engine. The ship can make turns, in the wormhole, because the singularity can also turn left or right (On itself). However, even if a wormhole can be create backward, the ship cannot enter the wormhole in this manner.

Believe me: I had to enlarge the ring a lot, to get the emitters and the singularity into place. Bigger that that, was ridiculous when you look at the ship frontally. I have to place some darker panels on the ring, that would serve has shield projectors and such. Still have to be made.

Still working on this. Just not very fast. Tell me what you think of this main texture. There will be a black texture to, basically this texture darken. I decided to put back the electronic design over the Aztec's one.

I don't get the circuit board pattern. It's obvious what it is, and no apparent need for delicate electronics to be on the outside of the ship.

Re: WIP Enterprise Protostar

I though that a nanite repair surface could need a kind of a road on the surface. It could be done another way too. You make me think, I didn't take this into account. The nanite a supposed to be into the interstice of the panels. They would forms patterns and road, a bit more organic between them. I will flush the electronics and redo this instead. I would like a more chaotic, web like linings.

Re: WIP Enterprise Protostar

Here we go. The texture is more organic in a manner, because the nanites would cross link over the corners and form curves road...a bit like a web over the panels.

And this is the transition between the normal texture to the luminous overlay, with a normal lighting.

That's looking more interesting. Can't wait to see what you develop this into.

But I'm LOVING the engines you've got!

Fast post again. Tried doing the singularity as a post effect, added the energy texture.
