Miss orig SG too (pre-Browder). But Sanctuary keeps me happy, not only for obvious reason but a lot of same tropes and SG cast pop up. And it's closest thing I've seen recently to SG's popcorn/bubblegum-tongue-in-cheek-SF. When did tv execs forget to have fun?

I'd probably be able to enjoy Sanctuary more were it not for that shockingly bad accent that Amanda Tapping does. I wouldn't mind if it was just an amalgamation of British and American/Canadian, that would be believable given how old she is, but it isn't even consistent, it's all over the place.

Some people think that scifi can also be well made naturalistic drama and want to take things in that direction.

It was my understanding that was Amanda Tapping's natural accent coming back (no longer fighting to portray an American accent and allowing her natural accent to return?)

Na, she was born in England, but moved to Canada when she was three years old. She definitely doesn't have an English accent in real life, though she's probably at least picked some stuff up from her parents.

Yeah, I've seen/heard enough interviews and DVD commentaries from Amanda Tapping to know the accent she uses on Sanctuary is fake. Mind you, I don't see anything wrong with her Sanctuary accent, but that's me.

indeed I really hope it comes back in the future but it is my understanding that spyclass who bought MGM doesn't like Stargate so as long as they are holding the purse strings no new Stargate

how can they not like stargate? forgetting it was a great show - it was one of the top earning franchises in the 1990s and 2000s. sorry but at the end of the day it is a business, what sells is good - doesnt matter about your personnal preference.
