Me too. Omaha has a Triple-A team (the Storm Chasers) and they play in a really cool park, but it's still too far away for me to go more than a couple of times a month.

We just got a Minor League team of our own, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, an affiliate of the Reds. They are going to play their very first game tonight, against the Montgomery Biscuits. And I'm going to be there.

I went to the first game the Colorado Rockies ever played, which don't mean shit but it's fun to say I was at Shea that day.

The Hudson Valley Renegades will be my new old local minor league team. I took in their first game as well in 94. They're short season Class A, and I have no idea who they are affiliated with at this point, but they got pretty loud there the times I went. I made the mistake of sitting in the bleachers, with the idiots who decide rattling a metal bench is fun. Now I get a real seat.

I assume the Renegades name has something to do with the fact that there are two state prisons on either side of I-84 right nearby.

It's Opening Day and no runs have been scored at this point. We need more scoring in Baseball. Someone please do something or else the highlight shows will not have much tonight.

Lovely tribute to Gary Carter before the Met game today. Surprised that they didn't formally retire his number, but they've already effectively done it - #8 has never been issued since his time - so I guess that's enough. (Plus they may be saving it for when they retire #31.)

And am I the only one who actually liked the black Met uniforms?

Oh well. At least they won Opening Day, again.

Believe it or not, not everyone watches Mets games, so the vast majority of people have no clue what you're talking about.

(The Mets took BP and warmed up wearing #8 Carter jerseys, today.)

Although the Mets hid the retired numbers in the PARTY CITY DECK instead of putting them on the blue front wall. Fuck the Wilpons, always and forever.

I love the new unis though. No more black drop shadows, and the off-white homes are a little less off than in past years. They play like shit, but at least look sharp.

It's my understanding that the Reds are basically hoping to sign a television deal similar to the one the Angels just got (20 years, $3 billion) in the near future, which is where this money's coming from.

Word. What the fuck were they thinking when they adopted that black monstrosity? The Jays made that mistake as well. I'm glad both teams are going back to their classic look.

The Jays at least incorporated it into their identity. The Mets added those ridiculous drop shawdows and alternate hats and jerseys that made no sense at all.

The Twins seem to have picked up right where they left off last season- marginal pitching and weak bats. I still have hope that things will improve, though: The thought of another 99 loss season isn't a pleasent one.

And now, they've already made a roster move, sending infielder Luis Valbuena to the minors and recalling pitcher Rodrigo Lopez.

I think that gives them 12 pitchers, hope it'll be enough.
