The Walking Dead Season 2 Discussion *Spoilers*

After trawling back through several months of Comic Book Resources news articles, i've managed to track down the comic i mentioned.
It's 'Rebel Blood' by Image Comics, that features a zombie virus capable of jumping species. Leading to the terrifying reality of zombie squirrels.

This isn't about TWD but it does involve zombies. It's a trailer for a Japanese movie called Zombie Ass: Toliet of the Dead. Google it. it's freakin' hilarious.

Believe it or not in some rural parts of the South "cow tipping," is still a fun prank that teenagers like to take part in on farmers.

It's where a sleeping cow standing upright gets turned over.

If a teenager can tip over a sleeping cow I'd imagine that a crazed zombie would have no problems quickly devouring it.

Except thats just a myth, cows don't sleep standing up, and if they did, it would still be hard to push over a half ton of wieght.

It is, cows weigh quite a bit...or *ahem* so I hear.

It is nearly impossible just to catch them unaware, much less actually get close enough to give them a solid push without them noticing you, which is why it is more of a hazing thing for new kids in town than an actual hobby. At least where I grew up. Like a snipe hunt for city kids who move to the country.

^Yeah, I've lived in the countryside my whole life and I've *never* heard of anyone actually doing this. Or for that matter have I heard of anyone stupid enough to attempt it...and I've known some bloody idiots in my time. But then sneaking into a cow field in the middle of the night sounds more like an excellent way to either electrocute yourself (those things are hard enough to spot in daylight) or get your head blown off if the farmer catches you trespassing on private land.

I suspect anyone who attempts it is in for a nasty shock when the cow turns and kicks them in the nadgers...or an even nastier shock when the bull gets wind of them...

The few times we ever took kids out to go "cow tipping" was on a friend's property. Usually didn't last more than a few minutes before someone started laughing and the game was up. You have to entertain yourself somehow though, and we hadn't yet discovered drinking.

Actually the worst part is after not pushing the cow over and the cow looking at you like an idiot and trotting off(but you think it's charging you so you run) is not being able to see and dodge the actual land mines that are in the field.

Again....so I hear.

But luckily drop bears can easily climb out of a zombie's reach and the noble wild haggis is their natural predator.

There is actually a book series called The Rising that follows that premise. A military research installation opens a doorway to hell and demons are able to escape into the bodies of the recently deceased. Not to spoil the novel but, at the end of the second book in the duo, the final chapter is about the death of the last surviving animal life forms and the demons starting to overtake insects.

It was actually a fairly good series. One of the creepiest zombie works of fiction that I've ever read.


Also, as asked by another poster, zombies attacking animals other than humans depends on the author in question. In the Romero series of films (despite a brief shot of an insect being eaten) zombies are said not to pursue anything other than humans - Survival of the Dead uses this as a major plot point. The same was said of the remake of Dawn of the Dead when the dog Chips was able to walk passed zombies and survive alone in a parking garage infested by them. Nonetheless, in the 1990 remake of Night by Tom Savini a zombie can be observed eating a field mouse and, as seen in TWD, zombies did eat the horse and the swamp walker partially ate a cow before attacking Dale.
