Re: Why has the Janeway tag been removed from all threads?

You don't remember the Alamo?

The spectres of Daniel Boon and Davey Crocket were part of the DS9 Scenery for half a season at least.

And every time they were playing with their model I would think "thank the prophets we haven't had to endure this on the holodeck".

Re: Why has the Janeway tag been removed from all threads?

Of course I mean to be rude, but have you ever had to explain to a lover why you've been screaming "Prophets! Prophets! Thank the Prophets!" during the climax of some physical episode often?

It's only happened while in bed with a Ferengi. Quite a good response out of them too

You know, I thought you were joking, until I remembered that you live in a country where you are always within an hours drive from a comicbook/sciencefiction convention where you can go cuising for whatever fetish you have an interest in, be it Ferengi, Ewoks or Princess Leia Slavegirls.

That's taking no glove, no love to a logical extreme.

Now there's a teen-weeny tag titled janewayconspiracy. Très droll.

Re: Why has the Janeway tag been removed from all threads?

5 thread have been tagged with that bugger.

two of them about Lit-Janeway dying and coming back to life.

If I am to believe this time line.

The Janeway conspiracy began 5 years ago when Peter David killed her

more so.

Following all this to it's logical conclusion.

It is Peter David who is screwing with our tags.

I've just realized that VOY was the only series not to have a wild west episode.

TOS: Specter of the Gun
TNG: A Fistful of Datas
ENT: North Star
DS9.. OOPS that's embarrassing, somehow mixed this up with Back to the Future III which makes this a post about a whole lot of nothing.

DS9 and VOY were the only Treks to not have a wild west episode.

Does "The Q & the Gray" count as a "wild west" ep?

Kinda?

Sorta?

Re: Why has the Janeway tag been removed from all threads?

That's the south.

if just being setin the 1860s was all they needed then the fair haven episodes would count and maybe even that Jane Austin novel...

Oh.

The Brits did 4 issue mini series called Lost in Austin about a regular girl from modern london walks though a magic door, and finds herself in the pages of Pride and Prejudice.

The US remake is almost upon us.

Mystery solved:

It's no conspiracy. I do a bit of tag maintenance around once a week or so. When one is suddenly huge in the cloud, I take a look at it to make sure it's legit. Every now and then a rabid fan of some sort will search the board for mention of their favorite character/show/actor and tag every thread in which they're mentioned. Presumably, it's to make their favorite topic into the largest tag in the cloud.

I don't know what the allure of that is, but that's not what tags are for. They're topic tags, not gang tags.

That's exactly what happened here. One day, the "janeway" tag was roughly the size of the "batman" tag, and the next, it was enormous. I looked, and it was clear that someone had run a search on her name and tagged every thread that came up.

Ironically, this kind of thing renders the tag useless. If someone wants to look for topics about Janeway specifically, and they click on that tag in the cloud, they get a bunch of random Voyager threads where people tagged her because she's in the episode. Compare that to the "batman" tag, which leads you to discussion of the character.

I deleted the whole tag because this person or people had tagged so many that it wasn't worth sorting the legit ones from crap ones. Otherwise, I would have had to open each thread and delete the tags individually. It's easier to just start over. It'll show up in the cloud again after fewer than ten threads.

If people want to re-tag and make it huge in the cloud, fine, but they have to do it right. Tag threads that where the topic is Janeway specifically, not ones where she's simply mentioned. You can even include it in topics about Mulgrew, as those would be relevant to anyone searching by the tag.

Re: Why has the Janeway tag been removed from all threads?

I appreciate getting an answer to this mystery. Thanks again Spaceman Spiff for clearing it up.

Now people.. let us only tag threads with Janeway in the subject line! Yes I know most threads end up a discussion about Janeway, such as any review thread, but we must be more specific it seems.
